What did the postman bring?

Postie Pete has been and gone, two WoB purchases for me today.
A bit of a theme at the moment.

A tester purchase to see what I think about the Rukl Moon Maps,
I am unsure if I want to spend lots on the full Atlas, so thought this a good taster.

And a general addition to my book collection, quite Moon centric in reality,
but that's how I got set going by dear old Dad many years ago.

Ah! Another XL fan 👍🏻
Have you got the 28mm? Quite rare I believe

Cracking old eyepieces!!

I owned the 5.2mm and 10.5mm XLs and both were brilliant..I also owned their replacement XW5 and XW10, and to be quite honest, apart from the slightly wider fov, 70deg vs 65deg, I couldn't tell the difference in the views🤔.

Congratulations on getting the whole set Mark!👍

ADM saddle for the CEM26 mount and a Buckeyestargazer bracket to hold the hand controller both from FLO. No more velcro. I really must sand and varnish the attic floor. I can never find the time.

Could you stick something like a coke can next to the mount head for me please? Was looking at one of these but can't get a feel for how big it is.

EQ8R lynx astro cable from FLO. The cable has had to be returned though - somehow it's been constructed with rings at one end and a cigar lighter adaptor (instead of an eq8r plug) at the other.

Snap!

Not too sure what this could actually be used for... However, also in hand very quickly by FLO. No surprise I think they are the only place to shop for astro gear! Also got one of these too:

Only have beans. Branston too none of that watery Heinz rubbish! The tin is at the bottom of the saddle and the saddle extends roughly 1 and 3/4 inch above. I'm happy with it. Happy to do a side by side comparison with the original if it helps tomorrow?

A more blue fine focuser for the little Tak (very smooth but surprisingly heavy) and some fine adjustment rings.

It is indeed heavy, but works well enough on the FS-60CB, and certainly helps focussing in its native configuration.

Just be super careful unscrewing that focused retainer bolt (with the two tiny little pits)… very easy to scratch it up. The MEF-3 comes with a nifty little tool 👍

A huge box arrived on a pallet at lunchtime. Inside the huge box was a huge rock'n'roll style flightcase on wheels. Inside the box, direct from Skywatcher UK, courtesy of FLO, was this enormous thing.  The two counterweights alone are heavier than my old Celestron ASGT.  Set it up this evening and put my C8 on top just to see - it looks tiny. Now I'm saving for a 150mm refractor :)

Thank you so much to @Ande for selling me his William Optics wedge. Posted yesterday and arrived today 👍, such a speedy delivery, great communication from Andy with all my questions. It's so much weightier and studier than my sw wedge. In perfect condition. So delighted to own this piece of equipment, will be perfect on my AzGti eq setup, she's a beauty.

The post lady just delivered a 72mm lens hood I bought on CN to fit my Canon 50mm F.95 "Dream Lens".

When I opened it I was transported back to 1976.  The Spiratone lens hood looks like it has never been out of the box during the last 45 years !!!!   (^8

Talk about "New Old Stock" or is it "Old New Stock"  ?!?!?!?!?

Another amazing book.

This looks like it will be very useful at the eyepiece, very well laid out and practical, much better than endless lists.

I'm impressed, thanks Agnes.

Where did you get it? I would love one, I think i've heard mention of it here on SGL, I believe a member made it if I'm correct.

Another old book. This was actually my first astro book in the early 70s. It’s the same 1971 edition I owned, but was lost over the years. Looking at the illustrations immediately transposes me to my youth - and how I longed for the return of Comet Halley in 1985/6 and the solar eclipse in 1999 that were mentioned (both major disappointments as it turned out!). I know many others started with this book.

My favourite chapter was the one on Equipment. Patrick was always disparaging about pillar a claw mounts (quite rightly, although I don’t think I’d actually seen one), invariably describing them as steady as either a jelly (in this book) or a blancmange. I loved this idea.
Strange no mention of Taks, though.
