Spent many happy hours here with Patrick and other friends. Happy memories. Happy days.. Seems a life time ago now 😪 So glad it’s being looked after well and that it has a blue plaque to commemorate him.
  2. Stunning image and presentation! Love it!
  3. Many Happy returns from over the border. I’ll leave it to those that know better with regard to scope advice. Good luck.. Clear skies and enjoy!
  4. Yet to try mine out, but am sure it will be amazing Price is through the roof! No duty, as it’s made in the EU (current Brexit rule between UK, NI & EU (both ways)). However, carriage, insurance and the dreaded VAT @20% pushes the price up even further 😮 If it’s coming into the UK.
  5. Nice job Chris! Are you using a mirror less camera? I’d be interested to learn more as have an older Fuji XE2 that might work?
  6. A willing seller. I simply got lucky 🍀. Now all I need is clear skies?……
  7. Beyond ecstatic! Searched a long time for this piece of glass..
  8. I absolutely love this image! Congratulations….
  9. Thank you all for your kind welcome
  10. Hahaha. I’ll try the ignorant method too. What did you say your name was? 🤔
  11. This is the best source of information for matters of import/export. Please be aware that rules do change, so it’s worth checking every time you buy into the country (Great Britain & NI) from overseas. You might need to dig deeper into the links to find answers that relate more to the products you choose to buy in cross border. Currently, if items are “Made in GB/NI or EU” then they are not subject to import/export duty. (Current deal following Brexit). Check with the supplier/manufacturer if unsure. If you import into GB & NI and the item is made in the EU, make sure the inbound package clearly states the country of origin to ensure duty isn’t charged by the freight/courier company. You can always claim it back if you get charged, but it’s only additional hassle. Good luck 🤞
  12. Relatively new to SGL, but have been heavily involved with Astronomy for over 25 years. Thought I'd have some fun and join the conversation. Clear skies, Stefan
  13. I guess the Persian rugs gave the game away…. The image was taken within the largest uninterrupted sand mass in the World! (As long as it’s not blowing around, all is well) Liwa Oasis, Rub ‘Al - Khali (The Empty Quarter), UAE. (22° 53’ 06” N, 54° 20’ 34” E)
  14. Only a true Suffolk chap, and a Lovejoy fan, can easily see the Lavenham Swan in the background next to the palm tree. 🤣. Don't tell anyone. 🤫 My first reaction to your post was, "oooh! an astronomer in the county!" No change what so ever, as the image shows. 🤪 Come on home!
  15. Me too. I can’t recall such poor observing conditions in this part of the World. Moon it is for a while yet 😉
  16. Here’s a teaser, whilst I work at creating my signature. 🤫 Ok, so it’s not a night time shot. Although it was approaching the golden hour and darkness fell very soon after I took this image. Does that still count? 🥴 Introducing Zeùs!
  17. When we lived in the desert, this was very much grab and go most nights. Now we are back in the UK, and under cloud for what seems like forever, it’s become more of a door stop 😪 . I’m desperate to attend any dark site star party to give Zeùs the photons he deserves. The views he delivers are beyond belief. I think I need to create a footer to my posts with some detail around the making of Zeùs for those interested. * Just read that I need a few more posts to add a signature…. I’ll get scribbling. 😁
  18. my first post….. Here’s mine from a while ago
