What did the postman bring?

Well, Santa came down the chimney on Christmas Eve and delivered this little gem to me (I was a good boy all year, I promise!) Some nice photos of the earth and the moon in it, along with all the Apollo missions and earlier pre-Apollo test missions that led up to it too. Thanks Santa! ;)

The postal services over here could learn a thing or two from the Buyee team in Japan. This was posted from Japan on Boxing Day, arrived just now, speechless!

I've been hunting down one of these Vixen SSW 7mm for a long time, my wide-field collection is now complete.

Glamour shot with his new mates!

Nothing like the feeling of having a completed collection.

A bit slower than @Franklin EP post from Japan and these via Ely but still super happy to secure them nevertheless as they are discontinued and still hopeful of getting these onto Mars for a good period in January.

For binoviewer use  at 56x, 83x, 167x and 203x in various combinations and for cyclops stellar PNe hunting (alternating one with O-III fitted and one w/o) at 2.3mm, 1.4mm and 1.1mm exit pupil.

Well the new kitchen lino will have to wait 😉, probably my only big astro purchase I'll be doing for sometime. Arrived by the speed of light from @FLO & Dpd. It's really going to make my start back into my new visual sessions a lot easier a quickly set up. Just waiting on the 3/8 bolt to mount to my celestron 1.25inch tripod but even my SA mount unextended the Meade bazooka seems quite stable. Looking forward to some nice double star hunting soon.

Some new reading material for the new year. One on the Mercury missions from Nasa, and the other on the mythology of the night sky. Bought the last one at the end of November, but due to delays it has just arrived this morning by RM, along with the other book delivery from the ‘A’ place too.

I have the Mythology one; it's a good read if you like both mythology and space.

Couple of arrivals today.
Baader diagonal.  I have 2 now. One permanently attached to my Maxbright binoviewers and this one for cyclops. Baader clicklock eyepiece clamp arrived too - great timing.

I’ve tried all sorts of red dot finders but for me the Telrad does it best!! just wish someone would improve the design & looks. PS like the dew shield, made mine out of a cardboard tube and painted it black 🤣

I couldn't resist this telrad and read all the reviews on it. What I particularly like is the 3 circles instead of one dot, which could cover the intended target. I agree on the design or bulk of it, you'd think it could be squished in a bit. It's super light and hoping to try on Monday if reports are correct. Luke did a good job on the dew shield with foam board. As long as the villagers here don't think I'm carrying an armed weapon around to my viewing area behind the flats where I live 😂

A delivery Friday afternoon from Auntie FLO via DPD: an Orion Dynamo Pro power pack to power my mount and laptop, and a Sky-Watcher EvoGuide 50ED that I plan to use for autoguiding my 12" Newtonian.

Re. the latter, I've used an off-axis guider to guide (manually) with the Newt for the last decade - but more often than not I gave up trying to find a guide star and instead resorted to unguided short exposures! Hopefully the guide scope (and an existing ZWO camera) will be a better alternative, though I've not tried it yet.

Regards, and happy New Year! Mike

I image with the evoguide, it's a very accomplished bit of kit.
