What did the postman bring?

I had a cheap ebay phone holder but new phone is heavier than old one and i didn’t trust it to not fall off the ep so been looking for another- this looks the business! Very nice to have all the easy adjustments but it’s very bulky!

And if you ever wondered why these Night Sky Observers guides are so expensive, they are enormous!

I'd love to be able to upload a photo of my lovely new Skywatcher EvoGuide 50 but, even though FLO dispatched it yesterday and DPD gave me a delivery slot today, it has not materialised. Instead it's been taken back to the depot with no reason given 🙄. Perhaps I'd be a little more forgiving but its the second time it's happened with DPD delivering from FLO; so I'll request carrier pigeon delivery next time.

Note - not FLO's fault; DPD is about as effective as a chocolate fireguard.

Great piece of kit... I used this same Neweer system with my Lunt 16x70 and it works really well... You do however need a slightly heavier counterweight as you found 👍

I still have mine, but don't need it too much anymore, as I've picked up some Canon IS 15x50s... much easier to grab and go, but less light gathering capability than these 😀

The actual post person from the actual Royal Mail actually delivered this!

It's a doofer for doing the thingy on my whatsitsname:

It looks like it's dual handed, can be switched to do either Weft Hand or Right Hand?

thanks @FLO.

The 2" extender to enable me to insert a powermate before the diagonal (both mono and BV). While the focus point doesn't move much with a powermate inserted after the diagonal it was unexpected and a bit disappointing to find that it does move quite a bit (outwards) when inserted before the diagonal. It moved further than i've had spacers to accommodate till now and i really (only) want to use the PM before the diagonal to keep leverage forces low.

The Tak 5LE because i was mightily impressed with with a Tak Abbe ortho earlier this week - the narrow FOV of the abbe was obvious but what is in that FOV was "wowser". Really tiny perfect pinprick stars. I'm hoping for more of the same with this LE and at a slightly more generous AFOV.

Say hello to Mount Stu Observatory mkII..

Next thing digging, then the hardcore, concrete, yada yada.. Doesn't seem such a big task if I take em one at a time. I want it to be complete by end of Feb.

P. S. if anyone has a pier they don't want please message me.

Happened to me last week as well.

For some time now I've wanted a Japanese 60mm f/15 to use on occasion, and it must be the collector in me that is driving this, as I have now obtained my second (as yet, untested) refractor this month, with another(!) arriving next week. I hope they do not all prove to be duds, otherwise this search will continue.

Raining now, but a chance of some clearing late tomorrow. We'll see.

The blue patch just a teaser this afternoon.

Hello.  Nice set of 7 filters via Flea of the Bay.  Antares - 218979D8-16A1-4E9C-B6BA-FC47B10F79FB.thumb.jpeg.cc0e7de20f3e83bf6d5d54d9961bef4c.jpegSeem to be well manufactured. Never had any as part of my armory for planetary. Been reading a few good posts on the subject of late.

Hoping will give me a hand in being happy at last with my observations of Mars with my Tak.

I do like the fact they have no "safety groove" to cause fumbling.

A new spider came in by the post this morning! It's a very nicely made aluminium spider, with a black matte coating, for my Sky-Watcher 130P-DS. It is said to improve shape of the spikes (no more misalignment leading to double spikes), and helps the scope hold its collimation. It isn't cheap, I believe it's made in Germany (here is the manufacturer if anyone's interested: https://www.backyard-universe.de), but since this scope cost me almost nothing, I thought why not!

Hope it works.  If you get a chance could you post some images showing the star shapes once the skies clear in March?

I'm intrigued. Are you planning on converting to a RoR or will the whole shed be on rails?
