Was that due to chromatic aberration at all?

I similarly found the views less impressive through the Heritage 150p than my 102 Mak. This was using 26mm and 17mm Plossls.

Nope, not CA, which I've not perceived in any BSTs (or any Skywatcher or Celestron plossls  or Baader orthos for that matter) in the heritage. The only eyepiece I've ever seen exhibit terrible CA in the reflector is a comically bad, far east , bargain basement zoom eyepiece, which I'd be too embarrassed to sell on. The heritage at f5 shows up flaws in eyepieces far more than the more easily pleased maks (not sure about your 102mm, but my 127 is f 11.8) . I'd suspect the shortcoming is in your eyepieces , which are being shown up by the heritage, rather than the heritage itself !

It was the shape of the stars at the field edges which I found disturbing , I disliked it so much that I've used a 32mm skywatcher super plossl in preference to the 25mm BST in the heritage for the last 6 months. The 25mm is perfectly acceptable in the mak though.

Hopefully, LCpl Jones may be proved right, "They don't like it up em!" according to the reviews  - we'll soon see ;)

Good to see you around Snakey! Hope it works!

Zeiss binoviewer. Actually arrived yesterday, plus Baader 1.7x GPC.
Remarkably was clear last nice, affording wonderful views of Jupiter in the Tak TSA 120 + ExQ1.5. Using a pair of Tak LE 18 (x128) gave superb view in the steady seeing. I tried a Tak LE 12.5 which was even better (x185), but I only have one of those!

Would you believe, when I popped inside I noticed a Tak LE 12.5 on UKABS? ! 😊

That will be for next week’s Postman thread. Looking forward to trying that pair out.

Arrived earlier this week, but away with work until late last night. A super AZ5 mount head from Jeremy. Fitted some longer slow mo cables, and mounted on my Berlebach Report tripod with extension. Checked out quickly last night on moon and Jupiter with my AA 80ED ‘frac, and hoping to test with the much longer big brother AA 102ED tonight hopefully if skies allow. Thanks Jer! 😀

it’s not next week yet Jeremy :)

Very true. I was pleasantly surprised that it arrived today.
The selling actually did a spectacular job of posting it yesterday and remarkably it was delivered this AM. Really nice when one’s expectations are exceeded 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Another Tak LE12.5 for binoviewing

I saw that too Jeremy and thought, be good for Solar, shall I and you got to your holster and drew first, good on you.
Those LE are a nice small well made eyepiece.
Perfect size for Binoviewer I should think.
