What did the postman bring?

Just received my Baader 2.25x Barlow. It’s a lovely tiny little thing, I suddenly understand how one of these with a Q-turret and some compact BCOs makes a lot of sense. Looking forward to using it with my zoom ep (pictured). Thanks for the suggestion @John  👍

Also purchased a Nikon 2x tele-extender to go with the one I bought three years ago! By some fortuitous coincidence they match my inter pupillary distance when side by side, and so with a couple of cable ties, I have a super wide field 2x binocular. Looking forward to trying under the stars.

One of the main issues I have with the HEQ5 Pro is the appalling Vixen clamp that marks dovetail bars. So I thought time for an upgrade and bought a Primalucelab Big Dovetail Clamp that does Vixen and Losmandy along with a corresponding puck for the HEQ5.

Got the same upgrade on my Goto Mount. Very nicely made kit this Primaluce gear.

Because the eyes aren't up to it... I got a focusing assistant robot  🤖🔧  !

I'm surprised at how heavy it is (410g). I'm hoping to get away with this set-up on my HEQ5 but it's over 50% of the HEQ5 max payload value so I'm pushing it already.

Also took three attempts to install correctly. Two issues:
a) the grub screw/set-screw that binds the motor to the focus shaft needs to be really tight, or else the focus shaft slips. They say not to over-tighten, but with this particular screw, you need to make sure it has a proper grip on the shaft.
b) the motor won't turn if it hasn't been calibrated, and the instructions don't tell you that. After I had fixed a) above, I really thought I'd broken it already because it gave one initial lurch and then silence. Calibrating in the Celestron stand-alone software did the trick.

Nice eyepiece, Alan!

But that’s not an undercut I see?

Yes a slight undercut, annoying enough, but nowhere near as severe as the TV ones are now.

It is the annoying bit that comes with a great eye piece, I took the annoyance.

Just enough room to squeeze the 12mm BST in there to 🙂🙂

Will be able to get in two more. Will take out the Barlow and super10 and put those in my kit bag, that way I can have 6 lenses 😂😁👌

Very shallow undercuts on the XW's Alan, so forgivable. ☺

I mounted my Lunt 50 on it today. It was more to keep the orientation of the scope with the pressure tuner at right angles and the focuser wheels in the normal position. I did not try it with the double stack as I think this might prove too much for it.

If you have a sturdier tripod John the mount will easily take a double stacked Lunt 50. Like the AZGTi, its payload is substantially higher than advertised if coupled with a stronger tripod

Put Lunt 60DS on mine and it seemed happy enough but the supplied tripod is a bit flimsy 😁
