What did the postman bring?

Having looked on the used market for a used one, I’ve now gone ahead and bought a new Tak Erfle 28 mm from FLO.

I want to try in my Tak FOA 60Q as a widest field 1.25-inch eyepiece. Currently use a Panoptic 24 for that, but as I’ve commented on here before I don’t like the RD that eyepiece has.

And look! No undercuts! So it is possible 🤔🤣
What’s not to like?

Thanks once again to FLO

A Baader low profile 1.25 to 2 inch adapter.

(this has a slim 1mm deep shoulder)

These actually have 3 plastic screws around the circumference as well as the grub screw lock for permanent mounting.

(the thumbscrew can be removed when used in this way)

Needed this as one of my scopes did not have enough in-travel for my Delos 14 when used with a 2 inch WO diagonal

(using the reducer supplied with the diagonal) Shoulder on most reducers is around 8 to 10mm.

All solved now

Interested to hear your findings on this... In my new set layout, I've got the XW20 or Pan24 as the widest 1.25" (keeping the 2" eyepieces in another set now), so if this gives a usable wider view on the FOA-60Q particularly, then it could be a great addition 👍

Thanks, Gary

A Buckeyestargazer ASIAir Pro/Plus Tripod leg bracket and a Lynx Astro cable for the AZ-GTI both from FLO.

The lynxastro cables are great. The only thing I don't quite understand is why some of the lynxastro cables don't have a boot for the RJ11 connector? All of their cables with RJ45s have a boot - pretty much essential for stopping the tab getting caught on something and snapping off.

Unfortunately similar boots for RJ11 cables don’t exist, there are a snap on type available which isn’t great but no rubber boot like there are for RJ45 cables.

Thanks Grant, that had been my thinking given how high quality the cables are.

Many moons ago in one of my IT jobs I did have some fairly specific cables ending in RJ11s with boots - don't remember what the cable's purpose was though. I can't recall seeing RJ11 boots since then tbh, so I guess they must have been custom made.

The postman has been very, very busy this week bringing things to replace my SW 90/660.

Special thanks to Chris @ FLO who sorted out some issues I had with the Skytee, amazing customer service :)

I'm interested - have you used those handwarmers before?

I've been using these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009LIFLCE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

which do work, but since they can be activated just by shaking, I find that sometimes just putting them into my observing bag can "set them off", and by the time I need them, they're already cooling down. Perhaps I should start a new thread.

Tbh I haven't used them before but the kids asked what I wanted for my birthday. As they're uni and college students I found them something cheap and useful to buy. They're supposed to be good. We will find out in the coming months...

Is this one of these "we don't talk about Starwave club" type situations?

Just the opposite. We need to be positively evangelical about our 500 quid ED 'scopes. Rejoice! 🙄😁

I look forward to your first light review. 😀

...and no offence meant, however please turn the dew shield the right way up for pics! 😆
