Arrived this afternoon from a fellow forum member... Explore Scientific 4.7mm 82 degree... solid, well made and compact 🙂

I haven't tried any eyepiece over 72 degrees since the Nirvanas I had in the summer and none in the 10" dob, so will be interesting to see how this works... I've certainly been very impressed with the ES focal extenders 👍

😁 gradually heading towards the 100 degree stuff.

Now the postie dropped off a package from China that I've been awaiting

Pentacon Six to Minolta-AF adaptor

Now the big Zeiss can go directly onto the camera without needing a M42 to M-AF adaptor added onto the P6-M42 that it came with

The Human Cosmos. My kind of read - always have been interested in our curiosity with the heavens. ADM adaptor for the AZ GTI - it's solid - never been so pleased with a chunk of metal. A USB B - C cable for my mac. Hopefully no more looking around for the tiny A - C adaptor. Finally a SVBony illuminated eyepiece. Quite expensive for a SVBony product however seems to be well built.

Those ADM plates are brilliant, I fitted one to the solarquest mount (solar version of the GTi).

I ordered this directly from SVBony in China on the 27th of Dec and 9 days later its here! Thats a pretty impressive turnaround! Looks and feels like a quality eyepiece! Doesnt feel too heavy either so hope to give it first light tomorrow on the Heritage 150P.

well, having said just the other day "how many tripods does someone need"...

image.png.3d4930bc3458ed6fab012d5a281122a6.png

I took a punt thinking it may suit the vintage frac but that collar is much smaller, for a 60-65mm OTA. The secondary plan was to swap out the metal legs on the LT70AZ with these wood ones that might improve the stability. Tis old and will need a little TLC to sort the metal and refinish the woodwork but they should be a simple swap as the gap between the upper sections is about the same.

edit: so a test fit and...

image.png.5a16a9e66e09cd869f963c9715d8fdbc.png

they went on easily and yep, more stable and any wobbles quickly dampen down, result! 🙂

edit-2: out of curiosity I tried that old collar on the TAL2 finder I have and with a little felt added it would carry that perfectly. So if I wanted a super-light grab n go... 😄

If fact, yesterday I ordered a set of their Tang-Thru/Demolition models for the garage toolbox.

And here they are!

This little chap arrived today, in mint condition.

Some years ago I had almost a full set of these..I'd love to be able to rebuild the set but they don't come up for sale often these days.

Using my 1.6x, 2x and 2.25x Barlow's I can get respectively 238x, 297x and 334x in the FS128, a nice spread of high powers for splitting doubles, lunar and planetary👍. Or 148x used natively..🙂

And today we have a camera flash bracket. It's not for use with a flash, or even a camera. I bought it for just one of the very nice aluminium brackets. The purpose will become clear in a day or two when the next bit of this contraption arrives.
