No posts since Jan guys?

I'll be breaking the 250px out of attic storage this week after 11 months of collecting dust. Moved to the city, but now back to green fields and dark dark skies! :D

After years of thinking about it, I purchased a rather nice 12" dob. I saw Saturn last night, so at least I can work it!

The kids add some perspective to the size of this little baby dob.

Very nice :)

Is that a Skywatcher tube on an OO base?

Yes its the SW explorer 300pds (minus the focuser which has been changed to a moonlight single speed crayford) black diamond series on an Orion Optics dob base and friction brake.  The focuser has be really extended practically fully to get focus with an EP so it's likely this will aid focus when trying prime focus imaging on the EQ6?

My modified 200p skyliner.

I see you built a conservatory to match the scope. Very nice...  :D

Very original idea with the alt-azi movement mechanism with hand wheels ...love to see a vid of it in action.

Here's a little home made dod. All the bits and pieces are 2nd hand

Tube sourced from Orion as old stock no longer needed

10.5" F4.7 mirror.  The base I brought for peanuts is from a 12" so needed to trim it down a bit

Mirror cell upgraded to 9 points, SW focuser, that will be upgraded at some point

You sure that's f4.7? Looks more like f8 (at least) to me.

I've got a 6" f8 and I reckon your may be even higher than mine.

Bet it's great on planets?

Nice looking scope - looks more like the F/6.3 version though :icon_scratch:

I brought the mirror set off astro buy sell, at the time it was listed as F4.7 but could easily be different

The pic is the old cell it was in, quite a big heavy lump of metal, now replaced with a wooded 9 point

It's a 200p skyliner. And a work in progress.much more to do to it.thanks.I like the 200p. It's easy to manage.and very capable of great viewing.it will  be my one and only scope.have no plans to go bigger.but I do like to look at some of these huge dobsonion scopes.

As to F ratio, mirror set was brought as F4.7 but the seller could easily have been wrong, bet either way, it does give some pretty good views
