I can understand your disappointment,Ā  but if you look at it as the life's passion of an amateur astronomer, you may come to view it in a different light. When I bought my three volumes during lockdown, it took me a while to appreciate it. I think it will grow on you given the chance.

šŸ™‚ the actual content is another book entirely! Nothing to do with the moon.

The big spend continues...

image.jpeg.f2a9dfafa75f0a46c1fcb7136066a4a0.jpegĀ

You can't ever have too many cables and adapters so I got another!

And... the most threaded adapter in the universe.... probably! :)

I think it's actually 4 dimensional and has more threads that are beyond human conception.

When I got my new StellaLyra RC10 I purchased an 0.8x reducer/flattenerĀ that was recommended for the scope. The blurb did say "with adaptation". When it arrived I couldn't see how it would connect so I passed my problem to the team at FLO and a solution was found by working on a live specimen in their workshop.

This is the result. It allows the reducer/flattenerĀ to reside inside the focuser. Beautiful tidy job. But don't get too giddy. the flange is 1mm thinner than on theĀ original fitting so by my reconning, the back focus is only 54mm, not the prescribed 55. So there are now a couple of 0.5 spacers in my FLO basket, and another cable, you can't have to many cables...

FLO have now added this to the list of associated gubbins for the scope/flattenerĀ combo.Ā

If JodrellĀ bank had ever been so complex, James Lovel might never have got his knighthood...Ā  :)

I have been eyeing this book for a while and I managed to get it from Germany (English version) for a lot cheaper than UK shops. A quick glance and the sketches do resemble several of my observations. I also have the accompanying Atlas.

It would have been a "Print on demand" product and some silly sausage has pressed the wrong button on the computer.

Hello @jock1958Ā

Akready splashed out on a Tak MEF 3 focuser unit before Xmas, so that is sorted.Ā
Only one thing left to add really - an original Tak reticle illuminator for the Finderscope. RVO have them but a lot of dosh for what it is. Nothing wrong with the one thatā€™s fitted ATM.Ā
Ā

At some point the wallet may allow it as a pure indulgence!!!Ā

Hi John

Sorry totally forgot from your previous posts & pics you've already got an MEF-3...dughh!

Ive got a FT micro-pinion focuser on my FC-100DL and love it to bits and a More Blue precision focuser (similar to MEF-3) on my FS-60C/Q which is very nice.

If I had the readies I would go for a TSA 120 or if they were still production one like yours!

A selection of cheap coloured acetates.Ā  Going to make a screen cover for an old phone so I can use it as a dedicated hand controller for the AZgti.Ā  Should prevent me nuking my night vision when it randomly decides not to dim the screen.

Also the wife brought in a sickness bug.Ā  Already had to go pick the bairn up from school

A slight upgrade on the 10nm continuum filter. Best filter I own by a country mile.

Interesting! Looking for to seeing how it performs!

I note this tempting teaser on Baaderā€™s website!

The Baader 7.5nm Solar Continuum filter is also be included in the scope of delivery of the Cool Ceramic Herschel prism Mark II, which is in preparation.

So I assume the current CoolWedge has the 10nm filter in it? Yet more expense! šŸ˜¬šŸ˜¬šŸ˜¬

Oooh, missed that. Yeah always something else to spend the moolah on, especially when searching for marginal gains!
