Thanks John..I've been interested in trying one of these for a while..I've had the standard T2 version for some years and really like it..but in recent years my right eye has deteriorated significantly, and the main thing I notice with it is light scatter and some slight blurring, compared to my better left eye.

I've trained myself to use my left eye for Cyclops observing, and find that an eyepatch for my weaker eye works quite well..but I do like binoviewing as well, and I'm interested to see if the combination of the Zeiss prism and binoviewing can help to noticeably suppress the scatter that I see..

It will also be good to know that I'm using the best end to end optical train I can in my FS128.

I do also use my excellent Astro Tech 2" dielectric mirror diagonal a lot, so that will also make an interesting comparison..🤔

As a non-astro aside, I can highly recommend the Lakeland heated drying rack - holds a lot and very effective, especially with the added cover. Genuine game changer.

Postman been again

So I can now control my NEQ6 Pro with my phone,

Would have been really easy to setup if the instructions held the correct broadcasting I.D. for the WiFi.  But no, instructions said it would

broadcast as SynScan WiFi ####  when in reality it was broadcasting as ESP-CEDA15.  Once I had figured this out it was a breeze.

I see you have X2 5kg weights on your EQ5 with the Evo120. I think I only used one of the weights when I had that set up. SW120 = 6kg?

Correct, 2004. It seems in very good condition for a 17 year old scope. I've been told that it must be wrapped and placed under the tree! No chance of that happening I'm afraid.

Today the posty man mostly be bringing me a star adventurer 2i pro pack & a lot of excitement!

This is the start of my astrophotography adventure, 

1x used canon dslr camera.. Check. All the necessary trimmings.. Check. 1x star tracker.. Check. Some free donload software to stack & clean images.. Check. 

Waiting on the mount and i should be good to go for under £1k.

Also waiting on a Tal-1 which cost me £21 plus postage to try & build a cheap deep sky set up...fingers crossed.

Not strictly the postman but every few weeks I check out the science section of the local Oxfam shop & picked up a book called The 100 Greatest Stars by James B Kaler. 

There’s a plate and a page of text on each covering observation history and the astrophysics, a nice accessible way to present a wide variety of content & happily filling a stormy evening over the weekend. 

Not bad for £3.50.

I just couldn’t resist! Vintage Pentax 10x50  model no 564. £29.95 delivered, very…very! Well packaged and in superb condition.

unfortunately no caps so they’re my recyclables.

Resides alongside with my Zeiss and Orions.

chazwell, when I say superb, I should have put my glasses on first!
Between the right hand objective cell and prism housing, was a slight gap, wedge shaped! This meant someone has taken them apart, probably for cleaning, and didn’t put them back square. I tried to undo the objective cell myself but it wouldn’t budge. So I went over to my mate across the road, we both tried to revolve it…nope! he then got out his oil can remover, the band type not metal chain! And with great effort we removed it. The threads were gummed up with metal filelings, so I removed them all with the back edge of a scalpel blade and refitted the cell, all clean and square.phew!
