What did the postman bring?

Reliving my boyhood. I first read PM's Guide to the Moon when it was Survey of the Moon. I'd found it in the school library and read it cover to cover. I'd also eagerly devoured his SF novels at around the same time. Not sure how the fiction will hold up with the passage of time, but a flick through the pages of the Guide shows the same enthusiasm that was so infectious decades and decades ago.

I'll be saving them for the coming weekend, to settle down as I did as a boy, with my books and a bottle of Vimto and a bag of liquorice all-sorts, reliving the days.

Hmmnnn…..never knew PM strayed into sci-fi fiction before. 🤔

Postie has just been and another old friend returns, missed it so replaced it.

Used but new as first owner had from FLO in October and decided liked his Morpheus more.. well I also have a Morpheus and wanted a simple smaller option at times.

These are super eyepieces. Lovely and compact. I have a couple for binoviewing.

Nice blue box too 👍🏻

DPD dropped off another delivery from FLO. This time it was a new Berlebach Charon observing chair. I got tired of the gymnastics and back pain that I associated with a lot of my observing sessions. This should remedy the situation.

By now you must be a major stock owner in FLO

Fine bit of kit from Portugal to allow motor control of the Mak focuser.  Incredibly sturdy, good price and only took 5 days from initial enquiry until receipt!

I have the same one from him as well. Well worth the price.

Two deliveries today.

Postlady brought my Baader ND filter, what I got from astro buy and sell.

Filter is tip top, but needed a good cleaning as I could cover a full season of CSI Miami from the finger prints on the glass surface.

Also got a cheap Pentax bino from Amazon. I had a bunch of voucher what I could only use on items what actually Amazon sells. Technically it was free. It will replace our old (now dead ) National Trust pocket bino.

Not convinced about the quality and how long it is going to last, but if you don't try, you don't know 🤷‍♂️

No postie involved, but I collected this lovely scope up during a clandestine meeting at Cobham Services tonight with @JTEC. I blame @Alan White and his thread for highlighting John’s sale 🤪. Very nice to catch up with John again. Even managed a quick first light tonight 👍

Very nice bit of British telescope making history Stu- it's a really nice looking scope. I was pretty tempted myself but too many scopes already and running out of space to walk in my flat ;) Hope it serves you well- I'm loving my little 6" Tal

So not an astro purchase tho it's spares or an extra file server, at least that was the plan, good price if unknown working state I thought worth a punt. Dropped off by the carrier formerly known as herpes... Open the intact box (slight crush to one corner) and noticed immediately that this box has had a few hard landings. Not labelled as fragile either, oh dear.

and the reason the front looks pushed out like that:

At best it's probably just spares that is if anything actually still works at all. Back onto the ebay seller to let them know, will try inspect further and maybe test fire it after work but it doesn't look too good huh. 😢
