Already posted on the “what did the postman bring thread”, but it’s a Christmas present so here it is...

The Night Sky Observer’s Guide Vol 1 & 2... these books are an amazing resource and will be great for exploring more targets with the 10” dob 👍

A late Xmas pressy. 😀

500 pages listing every event from 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2025.   Great for longer term planning and then looking up on Stellarium to check.  There's no commentry on events though so I wonder if I'd have spotted this one on 21 Dec 2020 and realised its significance.

No pictures yet but No.2 son either mocked up or found a blueprint style Saturn V tech specs drawing which he printd and framed for me and accompanied it by the Gene Kranz book 'Failure is not an option'.

My wife bought me a 3D printed illuminated moon lamp.

We bought a couple of the Moon lamps, with personalised pictures on then. One of me and Lorna, and one for her Dad and his partner. They were so happy. Her Dads was half the price, and you can see the difference in quality.

I got a couple of restaurant vouchers. The food in them is out of this world, so kinda astro related. A few other bits and pieces (digital photos of Molly, myself and Lorna, neices and nephews on canvas),

I was super busy over the Holidays with the kids all back in town with their significant others, so I'm just now able to post images of my astro Christmas present:

I'm still evaluating it relative to my venerable 40mm Meade 5000 SWA.

My wife bought me a 72ED... No idea how she knew to buy me that... 🤭

The mount was an unexpected Xmas gift to myself (unexpected as I thought it would arrive weeks ago, but turned up Xmas Eve).

Hi Mr Thingy, I have just noticed that you have some sort of clamp fixed to a tripod leg that holds your hand controller. Could you give some details please because it’s a constant source of annoyance to me trying to find ways to put mine somewhere where it’s easy to find and place.

Thanks.

A package from RVO arrived today. It contained th 8ah power supply and splitter that someone (I haven't decided who yet) bought me as a belated present. Just awaiting the dew bands and controller on back order with FLO.

Not one single item of astronomy equipment this year, not even a book. Bought myself some Celestron Pro 15x70's though 😉

I paid for this one myself as well. If my other half asks, it fell out of a cracker, OK

Not specifically 'astro', but v useful nonetheless.

And the smell reminds me of my old Zippo back when I had bad habits!

Hi Moonshed,

It was a bracket supplied with the HEQ5. It's a plastic holder, held in place with a velcro strap. Quite simple but seems to do the job.

I will get a picture of it later.
