I’m sad to hear this news. She seems too young to me too. I too was surprised to learn she was 70.  I saw her speak once at a lecture - Institute of Physics meeting I think. She was very enthusiastic.

So sad to hear this news! I remember Heather Couper from the TV in my youth. She was so passionate and engaging about science and astronomy. A sad day. My thoughts and condolences go to her family and friends.

We overlapped at univesity but I didn't know her there. This is a terrible shock. The first proper astronomy book I read was co-authored by Heather and Nigel Henbest. It was an excellent start.

I can't believe I missed this very sad news until today.

I remember Heather very well from childhood, her guesting on The Sky at Night when a woman on telly talking science was very rare.

She had that great voice for astro program commentary - a perfect fit.  Looking back I think I found  the quality of her voice combined with the subject matter had a powerful synergistic effect to fire my interest in astronomy.  RIP.

That's it exactly. She had a perfect voice for presenting tv shows. Tony Robinson has that same quality. I could watch anything they present. Pete Lawrence is another. Dr. Alice Roberts too.
