Mine has been a very busy postman, bringing me an AZGTiX mount to realise my long held ambition to run the widefield ST80 alongside my Mak 127, a Berlebach Charon observing chair and (incredibly excitingly!) a pair of Canon 10x42 IS Binoculars.
All of which pretty much guaranteed a cloudy weekend, sorry about that guys. Fingers crossed for a window tomorrow night however…

Actually the lovely Kathy has no problem with my obsessions & after 30 years of marriage they don't come as a surprise!    tbh I think she's still relieved I got rid of my MGB a few years ago, now that WAS a money pit :)

Just a quick necessary delivery for the cold nights. Peter Storm top and bottoms delivered by the postie.

Mine work a treat. Nice and toasty, but my brain does seem to slow down in the cold after about 2 hours!

Brilliant!

And, staying with the "Keeping warm while Observing" theme, we've been shopping in Lincoln today, and my wife treated me to these, saying.                         IMG_20230130_175115157.thumb.jpg.363cbd9354d37e6d8b102b0e5ebef647.jpg"to stop you freezing me to death when you come to bed after watching Orion for 2 hours!!" 😂😂

I can usually push it to about 3 before the brain fog starts.

I really noticed this a couple of sessions ago after a long and very cold session on the comet up on the Downs, was a real effort to figure out how to break the mount down and get it all back in the backpack. Is I believe the earliest sign of developing Hypothermia :)

Your dob looks like it’s sulking in the corner.

A Handle. We like handles on here, don't we....?? 😀

Nice secondhand purchase, and it will compliment the Berlebach tripod nicely.

I just need a scope to go with it now, but thats another story.....

When you’ve got a Berlebach handle like that, who needs a telescope?

You realise I’m not going to get to sleep tonight now, don’t you?

It’s just biding it’s time waiting for spring galaxies and summer globs…

Part of the rationale for stumping up for the chair is to get more use out of the Dob with a few less contortions - so hopefully it’s not feeling too left out.

After three failed attempts of fabricating a dew shield for my new 12” dobsonian, I gave up due to the foam wilting out of shape. So I took the hit and bought the Meade 14”-16 flexible flocked dew shield. The actual tube on the dobsonian is 14” diameter. £115 for a dew shield pained me, but it was needed.
