No! The postman didn’t bring this one, no way would I let them either!! I just drove nearly two hundread miles round trip to collect.

I’ve owned Tele-Vues, Borgs, Meades, Orions and Celestron, now I’m a Takahashi dad!

Please…please gods of reason, don’t let anything happen that would mean parting with it, it’s….beautifull!

what I’ll add to this, is that the focuser is as good as the focusers on the Televues, no backlash at all but I might fit the fine tuner later. Oh!….the optics…sweet.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Takahashi ownership… it will be many weeks before you stop opening the case just to admire it 😍🤣

That's a great find, Badhex👍

I think the older Japanese made Kellners were really underrated..I have a nice Circle T 18mm volcano top Kellner..it's pin sharp, edge to edge, with great contrast, really ortho like, and with excellent transmission as it only has 3 elements, albeit with single layer mfg coatings.

It's a shame that so many cheap and nasty "Kellners" sold with rubbish department store scope in the 1970s to 1990s got proper Kellners a bad name..

Enjoy your Vixen made example!

Dave

Cheers Dave! In my excitement tonight at some clear skies, I rushed out to test my new Lacerta 40mm ED and completely forgot to take the 18mm with me as well! That said if it's anything like the circle-T kellners I have, it should be surprisingly good as you say.

It’s an ASA DDM85, out of the 2017 production run, but never used in anger.  It’s amazing what a polite enquiry on a vendor forum can turn up.🙂

What specs is it sporting out of interest?

Pete the Postie has delivered my latest smaller purchase to make a binoview pair up.
I had one and just received this fine one from a fellow SGL member.

This small order was delivered by the “Postie”. Just a Baader Planetarium optical wonder cleaning kit and another desiccant cap. I was fed up with swapping a solitary desiccant cap between my scopes.

Hello Neil, can I ask if your focuscube came with 2 bracket options?

Snap. Another desiccant cap for me too and some more bric a brac. The Askar dovetails are a nice addition from FLO. Lots of holes and colour choices.

Hello both, one thing I have been meaning to contact @FLO about as a heads up was that my two recently purchased dessicant caps both had some fine metal swarf or similar along with the caps inside the packaging, possibly waste from the threads. See pic below.

I've not heard of anyone else mention it so I think maybe mine just slipped through QA but do check before you pop them in your scopes just in case.

I'll drop FLO an email as a quick heads up as well, unless the staff read it here first 🙂

Hi @badhex mine was all good as well 👍

Great! I figured it was likely just those two that somehow slipped through, glad to hear that seems to be the case!

That's actually exactly how I (wrongly) read it first time, Steve! But of course, I totally agree with your sentiment!😂🤣😇

Dave

PS: Lovely eyepiece Alan, they will make a great binoviewing pair👍

Direct Drive technology.

64kg instrument payload

Renishaw absolute encoders

Spectacular pointing and tracking and a whole lot more.  Here’s an old fact sheet on the Astrograph.net website:

https://astrograph.net/WebRoot/LCN/Shops/www_astrograph_net/5B8F/1E85/5121/D95F/4C37/0A0C/05B7/E09A/DDM85Standard_Datasheet.pdf

unfortunately ASA stopped making them in 2018, their focus has returned to institutional customers which was their mainstay prior to venturing into the amateur market in the late noughties.

Kind Regards

Paul.

Ooh, great minds, etc. I've just ordered the same EP from FLO. Now I'll have to wait 30-40 days....😥
