6x30 finder bracket. Sold as a laser pointer bracket but just right for a 6x30 RACI finder. Did replace the thumbscrews with nylon screws as the stock ones were too long. Cheaper on eBay if you want to wait.

Hi John, looking at doing this also recently & replacing the long standard bracket. What size are the nylon screws you used? Thanks Andy

They are M5. I have ordered some M5 x 10mm nylon thumb screws.

A Rasa 8" just arrived. Bought it from a Swedish Astro buy/sell site for about 1300 GBP. The seller had only used it once and it really looks brand new and came in the original box.

Not really a buy I had planned but the price was so good that could not resist it, and it will be interesting to try some f/1.97 imaging! Pity that most suitable big nebulae are gone for the season or now quite low on the horizon up here.

I think it could be a good match for the small pixels of the ASI2600 that I ordered two months ago, just when the outbreak started in China. I wonder when the postman will bring that one......

I'd be tempted to put a another nut on the end to lock the weight in place.

Hi Mark, won’t be necessary I think. The weight threads on nicely & the movement of the mount won’t turn the weight off the thread. Will probably purchase second weight & the two will lock each other anyhow. Well made as you would expect of ADM.

This arrived just now by courier...  I wasn't impressed with the dent in the larger box, so this has been noted on the courier's scanner!

From what I can see, the damage appears to be just superficial to the cardboard box!

Skywatcher dual speed focuser from FLO. Ordered yesterday morning delivered this morning!! All fitted and feels very nice. I hope I can fine tune my focus for a better view now. Can't wait to try it out.

Does that work like a coarse and fine focus adjust?

It’s arrived! I’ve been looking for this at a reasonable price for the last 4 years. Finally found a copy for a half reasonable not quite eye watering price (although still pretty expensive but totally worth it)

Excellent. This is a wonderful book. I met George in about 1979 when I was a schoolboy. I was inspired by some of his comet drawings.

Meant to say that the BAA holds the annual George Alcock Memorial Lecture every year in his memory. In 2013 I had the honour of presenting it and I re-read the book while preparing it. I especially enjoyed his mentioning of observing variable stars in North Africa during WW2.

Not for me personally, but with an influx of paid up members, we have invested in a club dob; the Zhummel Z12 that was on ABS.

I drove up to Chesterfield and the nice chap selling it drove down from Yorkshire to meet me. All went well, virtual handshakes and held opposite ends of the dob to stay a safe distance apart and an alcohol rub down after 👍

It looks great actually, good accessories and in nice condition. The mirror needs a clean but I can sort that easily. I spent some time this afternoon collimating it and all seems good. If there is a clean spell tonight I will be able to have a quick look hopefully.

Shame the current situation means we will find it difficult to hold group sessions using it but we will see what we can do.

This arrived from William @stewartw (thanks!).  It's a lens for the watec meteor camera I'm setting up.  It is certainly more substantial than the little zoom that came with the camera!

A bracket for the protective box also arrived today.  I will see if I can get it installed tomorrow (ready for at least some clear skies forecast for the week).

So tonight I'm reading up on connections, settings and software...

Sorry Merlin,

Just seen your post, yes that's correct it's coarse and fine. Its a nice focuser but it's taking me a bit of time to get used to if I'm honest, I am regularly over focusing the fine adjustment trying to get the best views and then needing to re-tweak. I'm sure I will get the nack soon enough.
