I have an extensive set of taps and dies, plus gauges inherited from dad. Unfortunately, due to the era, they are all imperial (Remember it?), so may need to buy a new set. The nearest I get to metric is a full set of BA taps and dies, including the odd numbers.

A lot (or at least some) of the American astro stuff is still imperial I think, as are various bits and bobs around our house. Some of the smaller fasteners might be BA as well.

Just arrived from Springer the three volumes of Luna Cognita by Robert Garfinkle. Very impressed by the quality of manufacture and the contents. This will keep me busy for the rest of the lockdown hopefully.

I got my first telescope back in 1972(a Tasco 40mm refractor),and with it came a Rand McNally Moon map, a colourful Solar System poster and 62 page booklet. Of course the years passed by and the scope was long gone as were the posters.

A few years ago with a yearning nostalgia I went on Ebay and managed to pick up the Tasco ,then later I managed to acquire the booklet 'A Key To The Worlds Beyond'.

Over last couple of years or so I have searched in vein for the poster and Moon map that came with the kit. Then about three weeks ago I came across an American company that does  reproductions calling it Space Art. They both arrived a couple of days ago and although very expensive they transported me back in time and at last completed the set.

They are made of a plastic material and I'm going to frame them after the lockdown has ended. They are guarenteed not to fade for 200 years🤣,and the reproduction is so good that the original folds are visible.

Superb!

I ordered mine last week, along with Johannes Kruger's Mond Atlas and two other books. This lockdown is becoming expensive!

This will probably give me a ridiculously too high magnification.

Anyway, this completes my set of Vixen HR's: 1.6, 2.0, 2.4 and 3.4 mm.

Personally, I blame @mikeDnight for this purchase.

🙂

Only two more  visual Taks to go to complete that set as well. Are you sure you still have two functioning kidneys?

Regards Andrew

Very nice indeed Jeremy, well done on getting the set complete, should be wonderful.
1.6mm, wow that will be a high magnification.

I rather fancy the 3.4mm to see how it fares against my Nagler Zoom, but funds put paid to this at present.
I have a pier and a new mount to purchase first!

Well done Jeremy!  Now what else can I convince you to buy? 😂 How about buying another for use in a binoviewer? 😂😂 I've heard Vixen are bringing out a 1.7 and a 1.8 too! 😂😂😂

In all honesty, although the 1.6mm may be the least used of the set, I believe it will still come into its own on occasion. May be some lunar, or Mars when below 5" arc, and close binaries would benefit from its power.

Thanks Mark. I’ll send you my address.

Otherwise tell DHL to deliver it to “Jeremy, Cheshire”. They’ll know.

🙂
