First clear night here for quite a while so I wasn’t going to waste it. As well as the dual rig in the dome running I set up @Tomatobro’s EQ6 on the lawn and put my RASA8 on it to capture some NB data on M31.  I had totally forgotten how much fun setting up from scratch is, it took me a while to get Sharpcap’s PA tool to work, and I had no idea how to get PHD working from a fresh install. All good fun👍🏼

last night was the first chance I had to get to grips with my SW GTI. Previous attempts had been hampered by intermittent cloud but last night finally got some results. Does the GTI live up to the hype? Well one version of the Synscan pro software does not work with C du C (mount timeout issues), had to adjust out the as delivered horrendous DEC backlash, its sensitive to wind gusts and draggy USB cables.

But it works well with my phone connected so as a portable mount its ok. I think it needs an ASIAIR pro for field use

The Sidewalk Astronomer, John Dobson would be proud of you.👍

I'm sure he would've!! However, he would probably have been even more proud of my old setup a couple years back!!

Exactly the same spot, observing Saturn or Jupiter with a 10" dob:thumbright:

Whoa! looks like your scope was dipped in liquid nitrogen 😄

Just the perfect night for this kind of effect, started out at around 1 or 2 celsius, dipped down to -3 relatively quickly. Was at the shore of a lake too so plenty of ground humidity to dew up anything left outdoods, and once temperatures took a sharp drop everything was caked in frost.

Used a short spell of clear (ish) sky to test my new “grab and go” configuration… I’ve been using my FC-76DCU with the extender (954mm FL) for the last eight months, but have dropped it back to its normal (570mm FL), for a more portable setup again 🤔

I’m trialling a set of just three eyepieces with it… new ES 24mm 68, APM Superzoom 15.4-7.7mm and TV Nagler 6-3mm… apart from some initial issues with getting all eyepieces to focus together (now resolved), it looks likely to be a good setup 🤞

How are you getting on with the APM so far? I had a lot of fun with it around the end of last month when I was under darker skies for a week. Great for globs and faint fuzzies!

Only an hour with it so far last night (between the clouds) on Jupiter, Saturn and a couple of clusters… seems to work very well… good FoV, eye relief and very easy to change up/down magnification 👍

Getting ready for the Jupiter double transit tonight. Sky is clear, but 60kph Westerly gusts abound, hence the scope hiding as close as possible to the lee of the house. No comments please about the state of the wall!

First time I’ve ever used any sort of finder on the LZOS (weird mounting bracket), and first time I’ve attached the slo-mos to my SkyTee. They both make such a difference!
