Average Astronomer Age...

Hi all,

I am very interested in what the avaerage astronomer age is on the site.

Im 24, and i notice that most people i have met in this hobby are a few years older than me.

I am also quite interested to see who is the youngest and oldest astronomer on the site.

I began stargazing during the family camping holidays when I was about six years old. Cold nights sitting outside with my father learning the constellations. Apollo and Carl Sagan took this interest to the next level and a hobby was born.

An old refractor, newtonian and an SCT later I'm now in the process of teaching two of my sons the constellations. Guess I better buy them an old refractor next...

Just turned 43, but my average age is 22....

The oldest person on here would be barkis.... He's very old.

Actually, I think he caused the Big Bang by tinkering in his shed................

This took me a while to figure out as I am 34 and born early in 1978

Big 40, but had my first scope since mid-teens, then life got in the way, and riding the second wind since last year! (and regretting the middle bit )

Im 41 now, will be 42 in exactly 1 week. So 41 until 01/09/12.

14 now. Will be 15 in December. My interest in Space started when I was about 8 because of the return of Doctor Who. I got my first scope in February (70mm) and hope to upgrade in November (200mm)

49 ... not looking forward to 50, 30 never bothered me, nor did 40 but I really don't fancy 50

Yes. Very poignant that one one my childhood inspirations dies on my birthday. Actually, I'm 53.

Im 33 now, owned my first scope for nearly a year now. I guess i started showing an interest at the age of about 10 when my mum used to point out the constelations such as orion and cassiopea and the plough.
