They were fresh out of the box then . I set up the tripod in my front room next to my small bins to show the size difference :)' I'm having a bracket made at the mo to bolt a red dot finder to the support tube between the barrels so I can locate things easier :) I've used them twice so far and they are very good :-)

Few photos for prosperity, no doubt these will change over the years and I'll have something to look back on :)

Shed I installed for scope storage and sitting in with my cup of tea when its cold!

Both scopes tucked up (even my observing stool gets a cover!) inside the carpeted shed.

My current main scope is a 10" dob. It's likely to be replaced by a 14" this year.

My grab and go is a explorer 150p on an AZ4. Very good for this purpose, it's unlikely this will ever change - it's too comfortable to use. Going to stick a microfocuser upgrade on it this month (same as pictured on the dob)

OK, I'll add.

This is pretty much as in my sig, taken back in Feb during an imaging run of M42, including London's gloriously dark skies. Not!

Since then I added some deep red gel over the camera's screen and I've had to replace the laptop (An Inspiron 9400) with a new Win 7 Vostro.

Sorry about the small size.

This is mine now... I'm in a minimalistic mood..

Everything goes in this backpack.

Good to take it in the mountains for really dark skies.

I sold the eq5 goto.. too much hassle, too heavy.

Last picture.. at -20°C.. we were icicles :)

Nice, classic looking scope Michael

I've never looked through a 10" plus Dob, though from what others say I feel I am missing a trick.

I was in a similar position until a few years back, having been pretty much a refractor devotee for years. I still love the refractors but there is no doubt that having the aperture is the way to go on deep sky objects - a 10" or larger dob can show globular clusters for example, in a way that makes them look like the images you see of them

My new toys since I last posted anything, a Skywatcher 250P Dob tube (no base) kinda make the 200P look puny.

Only picked it up on Saturday so with some quick fettling I gave it a first light on Saturday night in less than ideal conditions but I have to say the views were impressive after I kinda sorted out the collimation.

Just in the middle of making up a dewshield for it.
