Actually there are four bottles on the shelf :icon_scratch: Talisker 10yr old, Talisker 11yr old Distiller's Edition, Glenfiddich 12yr old Toasted Oak Reserve, and Johnny Walker Black Label.

Purely medicinal I assure you :D to take the chill off after a cold observing session.

Aaa Whisky man then Rik?

I too like a dram, about to finish a bottle of 12 year old Glenlivit, present from my parents a few years back. They kindly gave me a bottle of Glenfiddich for christmas, Scottish heritage and all that. I find its nice to warm up with a glass when back in from an observing session this time of year. :icon_scratch:

Here are a few of my scopes. The 10" SCT is on the 2nd floor of observatory #1. Still waiting on the pier to mount the SCT on. Dome #2 is not quite finished, and it will house an 8" f/9 Refractor for observing the planets. The two scopes in the B&W photo are a 102mm and 127mm f/6.5's. They will be used for the outreach program I am starting at my observatory. When my new 6" refractor travel scope gets here, I'll post a pic.

I'm still quite new to this as I've only had the scope since December 2011 so I haven't got much kit yet. Still learning & beginning to get some good images of Jupiter & the moon mainly although I did get mars on Friday night.

This is my set up as I were trying but failing to get a decent image of Venus last night......

A couple of shots of my C8 on my trusty Great Polaris mount, driven by a Skysensor 3 (anyone remember them?) while I wait for darkness to fall. I made the tripod out of american ash and it's really heavy and solid.

Thats a really nice setup - a good solid ash tripod is so steady too :angry4:

I used to have a Super Polaris controlled by a Skysensor 1 :)

Red LED display and rather confusing to operate to say the least :icon_eek:

Thanks - it's come together quite nicely, partly thanks to kind folk on forums such as this who (a) sold me the mount for a song (:( donated the skysensor and © persuaded me that I could manage to build the tripod.

The skysensor takes a lot of patience and is not very user-friendly but it tracks really well and if I get the polar alignment right it is amazingly accurate even if it does take half an hour to move from M65 to M66!

I've got it out on the lawn now, tracking Mars as it rises over the neighbours' rooftops. Once it's a bit higher I'll start capturing some avi's with a trusty toucam. Might try stacking barlows.

What a dob that is Daniel! I think the LB's have a much better outward appearance than the SW flextube equivalents, would love to look through one. Looks like it takes up most of that room though!

thats just the camera angle the room is very big 5x4meters sits in the corner nicely

Haven't seen any activity on this thread recently. May be because it's one the second page. Bump

Here is my solar rig when I observed Venus transit in Japan. I wish I can get more use out of it now that I'm back in the UK, but the recent weather is not helping.

I didn't have a filter cell for the Baader film due to space and weight limitation associated with international flight, instead I just taped it on to the scope dew shield

Where do you buy those cable net thing and what are they called?

I want to get some for my PC, it's a mess back there.
