We are fortunate nowadays, that there is such a variety of nice equipment available, and the internet forums like SGL have made what was a primarily a "go it alone" hobby for many of us, a more enjoyable pastime for us all.

This is our easiest scope to get up and running, and my Wife's favourite.

Simply insert legs, set Dec circle to lattitude, place bubble level on the objective cover, adjust center leg, and lock.

The Questar is great for grab and go, and our truck bed is an ideal height for observing.

Edit: Also here's a photo of a couple of the nightly visitors we can expect while Lunar observing.

I can't recall when I last posted some pics of mine on here so I'll stick some up. The scopes are:

Vixen ED102SS on AZ-4 mount in white light solar mode.

Skwatcher ED120 on Ambermille Giro-type mount.

Istar Perseus AT150-12 (6" F/12) on EQ6 / Meade giant field tripod.

Orion Optics SPX 12" F/5.3 OTA on Dobsonian mount by Moonshane

 Here they are:

I do like this topic very much but i wonder if i am the only one thats eyeballing the accesories and cabling more than the scopes themselves.

Alan

You want cables ? we've got cables

The white snakey thing on the shelf is a cable tidy LOL

Wow !! Dave, I wouldn't know where to begin ???

I must be a dinosaur in some ways, a lot of technology and cables seem too much like work to me.

Guess I'll just stick with printed charts and Visual Observing.  :book1:  :bino2:

Here's my white light solar set-up at home. It's a 80mm f11 Vixen achromat with Lunt Herschel wedge on a Giro III mount on top of a CG5 type tripod. I have an extension for the tripod when the sun is higher in the sky but this works perfectly at this time of year. The eyepiece is a TV 20mm plossl and provides 45x and more than enough room for a full disk view. I have used this set-up to about 100x on a regular basis but usually prefer the lower power full disk view. The views through this scope are astonishing.

I use the same set-up at work but with a Celestron OMNI XLT 102mm f10 achromat. That said, I have just bought an Astroboot 120mm f5 Skywatcher achromat for the school astronomy club as it will be more usable for the kids with a wider field, will also serve as a wide field scope for me at home and may make the 102mm f10 redundant. It will also be better for a quark than the f10 if I go down that route.

I have a Vixen 80 and even I was tempted by the 90!

You are probably right about the tripod mate. It came with an AZ4.

I am currently trying to source a tube ring to allow better placement of the finder shoe at the top end. it's currently held on with sticky tabs (and not very secure) - don't really was to drill the tube.

Here is a picture or 2 of  Sergei, my faithful old TAL100RS, still has to be the best value 4" f10 achro money can buy, first pic shows it on the AZ4 mount, really good mount but i felt i needed some thing a tiny bit stronger so now its a Skytee 2 and 2" CG5 tripod.

The TAL is one scope i will never part with, and i like to think it is slowly evolving, having fully flocked the interior, then fitted a 9x50 finder further along the tube, i now use it with 2" diagonal as i use a couple of Revelation superview eyepieces that work really well on this scope.

I am about to start another mod on the TAL, some thing i have been planning for a long time, but this will remain a secret till the work is done, in cse it goes wrong

TALs are very nice indeed Jules. I have never actually looked through one though - we'll have to combine both our wishes in the near future. The Skytees are rock solid based on a single short play I had with one once. I reckon you'll love it.
