Greetings from The Rayleigh Observatory

Good evening to you all, I hope you're enjoying clear skies.

A cosmologist by training, I have been an astronomer for 10 years. I am lucky to run The Rayleigh Observatory in London, and was even luckier to build the largest Caribbean observatory in Dec 2018 after two years of planning, digging and wiring.

I have visited this forum hundreds of times for advice, so thought it only polite to finally join in the discussion and say hello to everyone :)

Clear skies!

Welcome from Land Down Under (Ex-Convict stock)

Having our own observatory is everyone's dream

Unfortunately, where  I am, landscape of my yard, will entertain, due to extreme slopes, and tree cover along major road behind us

This same terrain also blocks a lot of light pollution, giving clear skies in Northwest to Southeast

Still pick up a bit of light pollution looking north, 100kms to Brisbane

John
