Postie brought the final piece of kit that I needed -EQ6 pro mother board- to perform open heart surgery on my ~18yr old EQ6.

Bought motors and the m/b from an eq6 pro along with a lynx astro eqdir cable and 5a power supply. Also bought the rail kit upgrade for the polar alt adjustment from dark frame (works beautifully but still hugely overpriced). Now I can let firecapture do the hard work of keeping the planet centred on the chip!

It had a strip down and relube a couple of weeks ago and with these upgrades this old beast has a new lease of life. Looking forwards to maybe getting another 18 years out of it.

It's a bit weird seeing it slew around at x800 when all I had was x16 max previously!

Next on the list at some point in the future will be belt drive kit and a bit of tuning - already got the delrin shims in various thicknesses for that.

Looking good Craig! 👍

Got my asiair pro and asi 120 mm mini today. Everything connected and running fine! Took 60 3 minute darks at minus 10 degrees cooling ready for imaging the triad nebula tomorrow night but it’s the only clear night forecast for the next 10 days. Why does the weather always turn bad when we get new kit?

I tried some quick planetary imaging while away last week.  Getting the planet on a small chip planetary cam using the Tak 100 was a bit challenging and I ended up juggling an eyepiece and camera.  So when this popped up on FLO's front page I thought it could save some faffing (and lower risk of dropping something!).

Typical Baader design and build quality.  It is lighter and small than I thought it might be, although at the moment its the bare box and will need attachments for connecting eyepieces, cameras etc.

It is of course raining... so it might be some time before it sees first light 🥺

2 new items to added to the scope i purchased a couple of weeks ago.
Replaced the plastic items with a StellaMira diagonal from FLO and thought i'd give the SVBony SV165 finder scope a try £50 from amazon. Looks the part. Cannot be any worse than what it replaced.

Wonderful, I really like The New Generation version.

Those opening three boom, boom, booms still make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

A pair of albums that I will not part with.

Hope you enjoy.

The only problem with the Svbony finder is that I have read that it has to be used straight though only as it won’t come to focus with a diagonal. Are you going to try a diagonal? 🤔

I’ve got the original LP my dad bought me in the 80s.  Managed to see it live in Cardiff about 18 months ago. Incredible!!

Very nice. You will love it. I have the Ed-r version and love mine. Can set up in 10 minutes flat so you can jump outside at a moments notice.

Looking forward to getting it out, clouds seem to be forecast for at least the next week of course!

I also got this from the Birthday pixies, it and the OTA both from recommendations on here 👌

Hi just had a quick try between golf and the pub and no luck with the diagonal.

I think that will give you 33-100x in that scope. Nice range.

I hadn't even realised a new generation version was available. I have my parents first edition, purchased  when it was released, and it's one of the most played albums on my play list digitally as well, usually a 3am favourite when I drive from Devon to London to the office 2 days a week (pre CV19 of course).

Thanks for the heads up, I will order immediately!

If it ain't broke.... much as I like Liam Neeson, no one could possibly match Richard Burton. This one is 'for the new generation'. I don't see this on my wish list!
