  1. Got one being sent from FLO to me across the pond. I hope we get some images of him with his Christmas surprise.
  2. 17.4 hours! How many sessions? I really tip my hat to all of you dedicated astrophotographers. The effort you put into this clearly shows in your images!
  3. Excellent post! Sharing the night with nature is so wonderful. Dont get any hedgehogs, or geese, but bats, owls, coyotes and foxes are seem or heard often.
  4. With it being described as a more orangish red, I did see it, was just expecting a deeper color. With the holidays I haven't got much chance to get out. Hopefully tonight will be as clear as it was this morning.
  5. 👍 I do enjoy a good Moon image.
  6. I know it isnt your basic accessory, but what has made my observing better and easier is the simple observatory I built. In just a moment I'm standing there with coffee in hand looking up at the sky!
  7. Amazing! I have really enjoyed seeing so many solar images lately. I cant wait till it really gets active!
  8. I've got that along with an adapter that let's me use the camera with a barlow, in the 1.25" opening, no eyepiece.. This, with the barlow gives me a little less magnification than your type adapter. Also have another that let's me unscrew the entire eyepiece part of the focuser, then attach the camera prime focus. This allows me to get the entire moon in my image.
  9. I wonder if that was the one that gave us some faint red colored auroras here in Florida? Is quite spectacular seeing it, isnt it?
  10. The animation, how many images do you think were used and about how much time was involved with the asteroids movement? Reason I ask is I believe I captured one while imagining for meteors a couple years ago. It was on a lot of images, moving quite slow.
  11. Now is it just my imagination or did you also happen to capture the Lunar X and V in these images? They are incredible!
  12. I have fair skies and it's well placed, but still only on rare occasions can I just barely make it out naked eye. If you sit at the eyepiece for a while letting your eye adjust, more than the core will begin to appear. Enjoy your viewing!
  13. I've actually read most of the replies to the OP statement. All the thoughts of the fate of the universe are quite interesting. The thought that came to my mind, though I cant remember it exactly, is the serenity prayer. I cant change it, so I'm not going to worry about it.
  14. Past few mornings I've been trying to find this carbon star with no success! I know I'm in the right area. It shouldn't be a problem with my 8" DOB should it. This is what I've been using for a reference. I will admit sometimes when I go from the viewfinder to the eyepiece my eyes get a little overwhelmed by the sheer number of stars! You know, the forest for the trees thing!
  15. Orion is well placed for me and I find myself in awe everytime I look up at it just with my eyes alone!
  16. I hadn't even thought of it that way! I'll just remember, compared to Orion's waist, I'm quite thin at 40"! 😁
  17. Very nice. If I every get to see them that nice here in Florida, we will probably have some serious problems!😁
  18. I had seen an article discussing the damage that happened, but didnt realize it would be retired!
  19. I took 1300 widefield images and got one small meteor that I think was a sporadic. And sadly, it was as dew was building up on the lens. My hand warmer I use didnt work as good as it usually did. Too old.
  20. Excellent image! I'm always amazed what the members here on the SGL are able to do!
  21. Amazing! I was out this evening and turned in that direction for a long exposure widefield. I was happy just getting it in that image! You should be tickled pink with yours!
