  1. Congrats! Didnt I tell you it was a great image!!?? Oh how I wish to do some real solar, but the budget says filter the dob.
  2. Wow, reading this really makes me cringe! One day this week we had 4°C and I thought it was bad! Yesterday was out working in the garden plot in short sleeves!
  3. I hope to witness it as well, but I'm 65. I also worry that if it's not accomplished by private ventures, it will be a decade or more.
  4. This evening Jupiter was visible in the glow of the evening sky, but Mercury and Saturn were below the trees on my horizon. I'll try again tomorrow.
  5. Very nice! Seems a lot of us were viewing it on the 7th!
  6. This was how it looked in Fla at that time.
  7. Amazing image! I was also viewing Luna at about this same exact time, the only difference being our time zones are different. I had high thin clouds to the North, but for almost an hour visibility was excellent! I was cool with our temps in the high 40's, but nothing like you!
  8. Wonderful reading how excited you are enjoying your venture into astronomy! At times it can be maddening, only to be so rewarding when everything falls into place!
  9. I watch every program I can find about our exploration of the solar system. I am just amazed at the dedication the scientists and engineers have with these missions. With everything they have discovered, I can't believe there is still so many who look at it as a waste of money.
  10. Finally get a goto mount, EQ5 or EQ6 size. And try to image the Moon every day even if it's only widefield. So far I'm got that one going. Also do more Solar.
  11. Just a single image. ISO 3200 and 10 sec exp with my Canon 18mm.
  12. I have an app that shows the moons positions. This looks to be quite amazing, but I dont think with Jupiters position there will be much good viewing. I hope to give it a go.
  13. For my astronomy, pretty good. But for everyday living, pretty stressful.
  14. Welcome. I understand that idea of falling asleep outside under the night sky. Back when I was a kid and camping the skies were a lot darker!
  15. Just a simple single image, working between some thin clouds moving in from the South East.
  16. Very nice. Wonderful details. Isn't it amazing the beauty you can find in such a harsh environment if you just look?
  17. Excellent image. The Moon this morning was definitely beautiful. I got out for a half hour or so for a quick view.
  18. I haven't done any DSO images, but I do enjoy seeing those that others do. 👍👍
  19. I like it. I have always enjoyed seeing the rim of a crater, or the tip of a mountain seeming to hover in the darkness at the terminator. So many overlook Luna when the bring out their kit for an enjoyable viewing session, but there is so much there!
  20. Nice images! Till I started visiting and reading the posts here, I never gave any thought to just how far North the UK is!
  21. For myself it's a night before work, so I'll be sacking out at 7pm.
  22. Welcome to the SGL! Nice report and glad you got a good evening viewing.
  23. I think that those of us who look into the heavens above have an insatiable curiosity! And with that curiosity is a hunger to learn and where else is there so much to learn than the universe? Some just dont have the child like curiosity, so they dont understand what we do!
