  1. Hi Sophie, 1st off, if you release the clutches on each axis, does everything move freely ?? 2nd, and If your mount is the same as mine, then you should have the ability to drive the mount manually using the elongated flexible controls (with the clutches engaged) ?? 3rd, with the clutches disengaged, can you drive the motors with no over loading\stiction etc. ?
  2. usually a fuzzy, not too bright blob, is ok..... Let PHD2 decide what it wants to use to guide on !!
  3. Personally I always go for Noctua fans, for long life, reliability, being quiet, efficient etc, e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Noctua-NF-P12-redux-900-Ultra-Silent/dp/B07C5KZX85
  4. What makes you think that ?? if so it may be possible to repair....
  5. Tried that one, but it won't install, as the installer routine doesn't see the supported hardware, and immediately exits.
  6. I've installed the latest version for the HD 4400 Graphics hardware (20.19.15.5144), but still no joy for the 'basic' starter.
  7. I hate to say it, but just running the default 'starter' still doesn't work & just 'freezes' the computer, I have to use Task Manager to kill it. Using the "Stellarium (ANGLE Direct3D 11 mode)" works ok. Win 10 Pro v2004 via remote desktop. Logs.zip
  8. FYI, If you plug in the USB interface to different USB ports, then the COM port will also change....
  9. The normal practice is to not use the handset, but to drive the mount directly from the computer using Ascom\PHD2\CDC etc....
  10. Sound like there's something wrong with the motor drive box, the control signal in appears to be working ok as its reporting the 'connected' & 'moving' correctly but no actual drive to the motors, and as both axis aren't working I'd suspect the internal power supply to the stepper motors... Try re-flashing the motor drive box to an earlier revision.
  11. I still thinks its' great value, I bought the product in 2016, so have had 4 years of use & all the unpaid for updates.... The new model allows upgrade to any future version (currently 3.2.x), and current paid users, just have to pay the license fee of $50 (£48'ish) (3.1 users) for all of your current 3 machines. If you just stick with what you have, i.e. 3.1.x & 2.x you don't have to pay anything.... Also after a year on the new model, and you don't want further updates etc. you can just stop paying the subscription & carry on using the software, well that's my understanding.
  12. where are you downloading it to ?? the best places are either your normal user download folder, or your desktop, but not to c:\program files etc.
  13. I take you have one of these http://skywatcher.com/product/eq5-synscan/ ?? Firstly, you need to check the volts going into the drive motor electronics box 12 volts 5 amp (not the handset) and then the 2 cables that are the drive to the motors (its an 8 way DIN cable with 4 connections per stepper motor) note the cables are usually interchangeable. Then check the cable between the hand controller and the motor drive box, usually a 'curly' 8 way RJ45 cable, but a normal 1 to1 ethernet RJ45 cable will work just as well.... IF you have an adaptor that links between the computer and the motor drive box, you could try driving the mount directly from your PC using something like EQMod. Another thought although I have not used the WiFi adaptor, does it need to be disabled in the handset ??
  14. Right click on the installer & select 'run as administrator'.....
  15. Also unless you took all the pictures at the same time, the volume of air above the camera will either lessen or increase with rotation...
  16. air pressure, wind, both high & low, clouds you may not even see, especially high ones, take your pick.... that's why we take multiple images & stack
  17. For your sanity, have you ensured that your system, virus checked the files on download. On install, you just need to select 'Install anyway', the error message is thrown as ASI\ZWO haven't submitted their files to Microsoft such that they can then get a 'signature' which allows easy install...
  18. you only need three connections TX, RX, Gnd, the rest aren't used. Also have a look here:
  19. I take it you mean the ProDigital software and not our own FLO's version? if so why not pay using Paypal as you are only buying a download link....
  20. Yes, you can use one of those USB/RJ9 adaptors, but you only need to connect 0v, TX, RX, the rest are superfluous....
  21. Have\do you run any disk check & cleaning tools ? As looking at the age of the system, there's a good chance that files are fragmented across the disk, which will result in unexpected problems, slow down etc. Even using the in-built simple disk check can often help, but there are plenty of free tools available e.g. https://www.lifewire.com/free-hard-drive-testing-programs-2626183
  22. One of the problems these days is that the Software developers are making use of the upgraded tools etc. but one of the knock-ons is that trying to run the software on older hardware\os's etc. without updating the 'hidden' apps e.g. .Net will produce unforeseen problems.... 4Gb is more than enough to run everything, where are you saving your images to ?, is there enough free contiguous space?, how have you configured your page-file?, its usually better to have it on a separate local drive, so that it doesn't get split ....
