Newbie from Kent

Hi Im Cary!

I am an artist who uses space, stars, planets and so on as inspiration for my work but I have neglected actual hands on astronomy. This wont do.

Im new here (obviously) and at the moment am just getting to grips with the basics, observing with some bins, learning to navigate the sky and so on. Even so I couldn't believe how much more is visible with such simple equipment! It really is amazing! Im just hoping I can justify splashing out on a nice shiny telescope at some point (one step at a time though!) 

Believe it or not I haven't actually tried my hand at any sketching yet, but Im sure I will be posting my early attempts up soon!

Hi Cary, welcome to SGL, I am a former artist (landscapes) who had to give up after I had a stroke, but took up astronomy soon after, never looked back (just up instead haha!)
