Imaging Challenge #18 - Globular Clusters - Winners!

Recommended Posts

This challenge wasn't as popular as others so we are looking at other challenge ideas to get more people involved.

Some excellent entries though and some very worthy winners! Well done all :)

One of the most " Challenging " challenges so far !

Looks really simple but is so difficult to get right.

Excellent work and a bit above my pay grade ?

Dave.

Well done all and great images, it was a tough one and the weather was also challenging during the period from what I recall.

Hi everyone

Maybe because of the gear needed to get this right? E.g. with my dslr, I needed 1200mm focal length to be able to capture anything at a reasonable scale which could be processed. Even then, a lot of globular clusters visible during the dates set appeared only as small blobs:(

But hey, an imaging challenge has to be challenging, so don't stop challenging us;)

Well done @Adry and @Laurin Dave - lovely shots! A real tough one for UK based astronomers this one with the weather...

Thank you!

Only now just seen these.

Such splendid images, Globular's are  amazing, if not fascinating to the mind.
Seeing them as produced by ground based amateur Photographers in such detailed
quality such as these, just beggars belief.  I heartily  congratulate the  imagers here, of 1, 2, and 3,
but high praise to all the other contributors too.
Quality work like this is very inspirational to  budding  Astro photographers  too,
Competition promotes a lot of interest on SGL. and other places too of course.

Ron.
