DPD dropped off the last two Nirvanas this morning. The 13mm and the 4mm. Now I just need to buy a new case to accommodate the five new additions.

I've had the 7mm and 16mm a couple of years. The 7mm being my go to lunar eyepiece and the 16mm is great for widefield.  Showing its worth at Astrocamp, although to be fair, a 17mm Nagler did beat the 16mm slightly on brightness and star colour rendition but so it should, considering the price difference!

The 10mm and 13mm are on my radar but I'm waiting for you first adopters to do reviews... Enjoy testing them. 😀

I’ve now opened my eyes and it’s SV04047, so a 2004 model and the 47 th made that year. Still don’t know what the SV represents.

According to this thread over on CN the SV stands for "short version", they were a later model (2004) with a slightly shorter tube to aid binoviewing.

Your welcome. If I'm correct the NSV stands for "New Short Version". They came equipped with extenders to make up the difference. the FS-102 and FS-60 also came in "NSV" version I believe.

Tak finder holder (handle? 🤔) courtesy of @HollyHound. An excellent gent to do business with 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

This is in the Tak baby blue livery to use with my FC 76DCU in that livery, but which, as several SGLers have helpfully pointed out, is currently putting up with a Tak green holder atm.

I like both Tak liveries, but OCD means I don’t like them much together.

Edit: before anyone asks, yes I do realise it looks green in this pic 🤔

Just like my sales post... it's a tricky little thing to photograph and show the colour properly 🤔

Glad it's going to finally remove that mismatch on your FC-76DCU... post a photo when you get the chance... enjoy 😁

Thanks, Gary

UPS delivered this RisingCam. It's the colour APSC sensor.

I was planning on using this with a Rokinon 135mm for this rainy season. I'd really like to use both a camera angle adjuster (CAA) and a filter drawer with this rig, unfortunately There is only 27mm of back focus available, and my pieces use 30mm.

If anyone has a lead on a CAA that only consumes 10mm of back focus, I'd love to hear about it. The one I have is 13.5mm thick. As far as filter drawers go, the narrowest I've found uses 16.5mm of back focus. Normally I'd just rotate the lens in the rings, but I'm using an EAF with a belt for focusing and that makes it quite inconvenient to rotate camera and lens as a unit.

Received the following book recently and it is excellent as expected.
Tear cover photo showing the great man himself.
Note at the time not Sir, spectacles in top jacket pocket and not a monocle to be seen.
I maybe wrong but I am assuming that the scope in the shot is his own 15” newt mentioned in the book.

The best bit was the price. 1 euro!71BBF4F5-47AE-4D73-B766-9916809ACF58.thumb.jpeg.822d6bb33d89caaab9ac539fd1e1b18e.jpegA019C393-5356-4168-A818-8C4D392ABDC6.thumb.jpeg.e980473647ce043f769de4414ec0f41e.jpeg

Excellent book. I got a copy when it came out from a book club back in the day, and managed to get a signed copy also. Have another of his books (One of the yearly guides he did) signed too.

Didn't really need a 7mm as I already have a HM6 but I figured at the bargain price it was listed, why not add an Ortho into the mix 🙂

Two recent delivereies, one by hand and one by DPD.
Both make me very happy indeed.

Firstly a book kindly given to me by a friend, thank you.
This is something that I have wanted a copy of for some time and am enjoying reading it already.

I was so impressed purchased another for myself.

Interesting your tak blue looks tak green in a photo. Makes you wonder if Tak sent a photo of their Tak green to the paint supplier who saw it as Tak blue and sent two years supply of it.

My new, secondhand, Explore Scientific x2 focal extender purchased from @HollyHound arrived today, well packed and in it's beautiful original box. I just need some clear skies and the energy to get out there and use it, now. Thanks, Gary.

Thanks. That is great to know. Any idea how much it moves the focal plane? I'm currently able to image with 75 or 100 mm of spacers on my RC6 with the D800. Do you know if I need to remove more and roughly how much?

I am not an imager Mandy so cant comment , but visually ES FE loses nothing in brightness giving clear concise views

Took a punt and got a copy of Sky Atlas 2000.0 deluxe edition from the A place, which arrived this morning. Got this for £40, which is cheap considering the crazy prices asked for this out in most places. In very good condition (only thing I can see are 2 small marks on the 1st page), so well pleased with another addition to my star atlas collection! 😀😀😀

Some M7 bolts! Too exciting so I had to sit down.  My 127 was held into my CG-5 with a small,  thumbscrew type bolt at a 45° angle, which I've never really liked, so now I've added a big bolt to give me peace of mind.

Got my TS Optics double finder mount today. Much cursing, as I thought I'd lost the right attachment for my Baader Skysurfer RDF but it turned up eventually. I'd hidden it inside an eyepiece box, obviously....🙄

So much neater and easier to adjust now.

A decent star atlas is the next acquisition on my shopping list. Any recommendations? Thanks

Depends what you want to use if for, how large, scale, indoors or out etc.

My most used in all events is the Cambridge Star Atlas.

For travel I likeSky & Telescope Pocket Sky Atlas. Only downside is you need to flip a lot of pages to find the correct location

There are a few threads on here discussing Star Atlas recommendations, including this one where I was looking to answer the same question. Some great suggestions.

Oh, that’s a hard one to answer. I have quite a few, but to be honest I generally tend to use Skysafari on my ipad when I observe, especially when using my goto mounts. I tend to use the paper manuals I have for general scouting out of things before I observe (and also for the beauty of a few of them like Atlas of the Heavens & now Skyatlas 2000.0 which is very similar), making note of interesting things etc to observe. The larger ones like Skyatlas 2000.0 are a bit to unwieldy unless you have an observatory to use it in (I don’t) so if wanting to use it at the scope I’d recommend something like similar to as Jeremy says as the Sky and Telescope Pocket Sky Atlas which is more manageable. They did do a Jumbo version of it, but not sure if that easily available.
