Stellarium 0.15.0 has been released!

In memory of our team member Barry Gerdes.

Version 0.15.0 is based on Qt5.6. Starting with this version, some graphics cards have been blacklisted by Qt and are automatically forced to use ANGLE on Windows.

We introduce a major internal change with the StelProperty system. This allows simpler access to internal variables and therefore more ways of operation. Most notably this version introduces an alternative control option via RemoteControl, a new webserver interface plugin.

We also introduce another milestone towards providing better astronomical accuracy for historical applications: experimental support of getting planetary positions from JPL DE430 and DE431 ephemerides. This feature is however not fully tested yet.

The major changes:
- Added StelProperty system
- Added new plugin for exhibitions and planetariums - Remote Control
- Added new skycultures: Macedonian, Ojibwe, Dakota/Lakota/Nakota, Kamilaroi/Euahlayi
- Updated code of plugins
- Added Bookmarks tool and updated AstroCalc tool
- Added new functions for Scripting Engine and new scripts
- Added Miller Cylindrical Projection
- Added updates and improvements in DSO and star catalogues (include initial support of The Washington Double Star Catalog)
- Azimuth lines (also targetting geographic locations) in ArchaeoLines plugin
- Many fixes and improvements...

In addition, we prepared a new user guide.

A huge thanks to our community whose contributions help to make Stellarium better!

Hello Alexander,

My sympathies to friends and family of Barry Gerdes.

As for Stellarium itself, I'm delighted my 'transparent background' and flip option ideas for the Ocular plugin have been implemented, many thanks.

I understand the reasoning behind the dialogue box behaviour now, thanks.

Thanks, but I think flip option should be improve in the Oculars plugin for CCD

Hi Alex

Um, just a small bug with 0.15 ;) The azimuth and equatorial grids switch off after using the image sensor frame. That's under Windows 10. I've tried on several machines and it's a consistent occurrence.

Louise

Worse... they switch off when you activate a sensor frame here.

I like having them on so I can browse around with a sensor frame looking for and composing targets.

Yes, probably! I just happened to notice after using the frame when doing a quick test :)

It's working nicely for my purposes / tastes. Still in the process of unraveling all the functions I'll be using. But here's a screenshot of the critter thus far. And my condolences to the departed one's family & friends. Very sad turn of events.

Thank you, Alex & all!

Dave

Read through the list and see that there's an option to make the tool bar non transparent but it there an option to do the same for the ocular etc drop down menu at top right ?

I'ts really annoying when you have a target framed for imaging and then click to change scope and there's a star in the same spot as the change scope arrow so the focus zooms off to that star, I have enquired about this previously and was given a work around but it didn't work.

Not complaining though as Stellarium is my favourite astro' program  :icon_salut:

It's not a bug, it's a feature. Of course you can switch on both grids again in CCD mode.

It's very annoying to have to keep switching them back on! Any idea about Stellariumscope not working? I'll try the 2016-05-01 beta version (if I haven't already!)

ps I love Stellarium - it's brilliant! :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Stellarium scope doesnt work by default - but if you go into plugins and choose telescope control and tick enable at boot up then save changes and reboot then update stellarium scope settings - it does work. Took me a good while to figure that out!
