Hello all.  I've recently been bought a celestron 130eq telescope as my entry level telescope  and I'm looking for some friendly advice on its usage.  As a complete novice to this any guidance would be great. I'm living in Plymouth Devon UK and so far have been exclusively viewing the phases of  the moon with some surprisingly high detail using the lenses provided with the telescope and I'm now wishing to take the next step. If anyone is local to me and is happy to share their knowledge, please do get in touch.

Welcome to SGL. You've come to the right place for friendly help and advice.

I'm sure you'll find many on here with your scope, so any questions however basic they may seem will be answered. Just remember, we all had to start somewhere!

Hi and welcome to SGL - I'm sure that there's a local astro society around the Plymouth area? A quick google search has shown the following

Hi, Otaku, a warm welcome to SGL - and to the worlds of amateur astronomy! If you haven't done already, I can recommend downloading the free planetarium 'Stellarium' which will help in finding objects and will give you an idea of what you will be able to see threough your eyepiece. Downloadable here: http://www.stellarium.org
