Could it be your FTDI adapter to your V1 PCB that died? I am just guessing. Why do you need the vendor and product ID? Your filterwheel should be accessable trough /dev/ttyUSB0 or similar if the kernel module loads correctly.

Hello, I got a Xagyl 5-pos filterwheel that is unmodified. I can check my vendor ID and product ID when I am home after my working day. But JamesF, you are running Linux right? It should appear when you run lsusb command or dmesg | grep usb. I know that the earlier motherboard on the Xagyl wheels do not have the FTDI USB->RS232 converter implemented. I would be glad if I can get rid of all USB->RS232 converters. I got many free real comports on my telescope computer

Impressive eyepiece cases you folks got! Here is my not so impressive eyepiece case, but it works quite well with my old Cave Astrola. I also got a Televue Panoptic 35 mm eyepiece that is a very good performer.

There are a speed test option in fire capture maybe you can try that to see if the computer lacks performance? In Windows you can run the disc defragment tool to speed up your hard drive (if you have a mechanical drive).

I don not think the USB3.0 version performs better then the USB2.0 version on a USB2.0 port. The USB2.0 ASI120MM camera do not like any other devices on the same USB host. I have my USB traffic setting at 96% on my telescope computer and every other USB device is connected on a separate PCI USB2.0 card. The ASI120MM camera is alone on the motherboards USB host. If I connect a USB mouse on any other port to the motherboard I have to lower the USB traffic setting, and yes a mouse shouldn't draw any bandwidth at all but I think it has something with resource allocation to do. I am not an expert on these type of things, btw I have reached 100% USB traffic on a P5Q motherboard! But on a laptop, there are many internal USB resources that can't be disconnected. But you can try different USB jacks and if you have a PCI express or PC-card slot, a slot in card could be a solution

I am not sure what you are talking about, live view mode? I have my D600 connected to Maxim DL 5.24 with a separate upgrade Nikon plugin. I do not use live view and I can take how many seconds long beyond 30 second limit. Btw, the D600 is a very sensitive and very suitable camera to do astrophotagraphy. I have no problems to take 7 minutes exposures with my EQ6, 8" f/4 Newtonian with round stars, guided of course but not with a OAG yet.

The BackyardNikon is newly released, try that! The camera will also work in Digicam Control and in Maxim DL 5 (the later versions)
