  1. Great shot. Maybe a hint of cloud detail there? Clear skies, Reggie
  2. Brilliant pics! I love the blue of the sky in the first pic. Venus is like a fiery ball. You must have had some pretty clear skies. I had high cloud to deal with most of the evening, but it was still a great apparition Another one in eight years! Cheers! Reggie
  3. Nice pics! It was a beautiful experience despite the high clouds in my area. I've read this happens about every eight years; I look forward to 2028! Clear skies, Reggie
  4. Great photos! Love the close up of Venus! The clouds interfered with my shots of the conjunction, too; my shots looked similar to yours on that. I wish my close-up of Venus looked like that, lol! Cheers! Reggie
  5. Wow! Dynamic shot! Yes, the difference in brightness could pose a real challenge for this approach to photographing the conjunction. Cheers! Reggie
  6. Brilliant shot, Ludd! Cheers! Reggie
  7. Very nice! I had to battle some high clouds myself. My shots weren't nearly as clear as these, lol Cheers! Reggie
  8. Here's my contribution to the Venus/Pleiades pictures. There were some high clouds so things were a little fuzzy, but the conjunction was beautiful nonetheless: Cheers! Reggie
  9. Wow, what an adventure! But you got the shot, haha 🤣🤣 Can't wait until tonight. Best wishes and clear skies, Sean! Reggie
  10. Venus is getting closer to The Pleiades! Here is a shot from tonight (4/2). A little sky lore: this open star cluster is known as the Seven Boys to the Cherokee. Seven little boys wanted to play instead of work.Their mothers scolded them but it did no good. One day, the mothers boiled rocks for their dinner. The boys became angry, went down to the townhouse and danced around in circle, praying to the spirits to help them. The boys danced and rose into the air. Their mothers looked for them in fear and saw the boys rising higher and higher into the air. One of the mothers was able to pull her son down, but he fell into the earth. Her tears caused a tall pine to emerge from the site, reaching into the sky. The other six boys continued to rise until they became became stars in the sky. Since that time, the Cherokee referred to this open star cluster as "The Seven Boys". Most of the time, you can see at least six of these stars with the naked eye, but sometimes you can see a seventh. Now is the time to see it in the western sky before it's lost in the evening twilight as spring progresses... Clear skies! Reggie
  11. Thanks, Craig! By Friday night, Venus should be right in the middle of The Pleiades. I plan to get a shot
  12. Venus has been approaching The Pleiades region and will appear to pass directly in front of the open star cluster over the next few nights. Here is a one-off shot I took of Venus beneath The Pleiades last evening (4/01) with my Nikon D3200 with zoom lens (at 300x): Clear skies! Reggie
  13. That's a great shot, Richard. The wonders of technology 😮 Regards, Reggie
  14. They are making a beautiful apparition in the morning sky. I get to see them before I go to work (though, for now, I'll be working from home ). Nice photo! Regards, Reggie
