  1. Brilliant image, Craig! That's a real looker Reggie
  2. I agree with Peter; they are best observed when high above the horizon whether morning or night to minimize the effect of atmospheric turbulence. Regards, Reggie
  3. Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and the Moon have made some interesting apparitions over the past few mornings. Fortunately, I got a clear spell and was able to get some nice shots of the celestial lineup: Clear skies! Reggie
  4. Love this! I hope to have clear skies in the morning to try for a shot Regards, Reggie
  5. Go for it, Chefgage. It's fun to trace out the stick figures on the sky
  6. Nice crescent phase. Great first attempt! Clear skies, Reggie
  7. It was an exceptionally clear night and I couldn't resist taking some shots in between observing (with no less than three telescopes, lol). I include captions and line drawings when necessary in some of the photos to facilitate seeing the form of the constellations. Here we go! Orion (Betelgeuse looks back to normal!): Hyades, Venus and The Pleiades: Auriga: Gemini: Gemini and Auriga: Ursa Major: Bootes: Virgo: Leo: Clear skies! Reggie
  8. For me, the best time to see it is from December to March with a decent south horizon. It's a worthwhile target
  9. Nice pink moon shots, Jonk! I really love Venus and The Pleiades through the tree branch ❤️ Clear skies, Reggie
  10. Thanks, Pete. It was a fun run of evenings
  11. Thanks, George. I'm sure you'll be as spry and enthusiastic in 2028!
  12. Inspired by @Fozzie, here's my collage of the Venus/Pleiades conjunction over the past few nights: Looking forward to April 2028 when this all happens again! 👍 Reggie
  13. Great collage, Fozzie. I think I'll do the same! Did you know that this was a cyclical event (every 8 years)? Cheers, Reggie
  14. That's just plain beautiful, Craig. I love seeing cloud detail on Venus Clear skies, my friend, Reggie
  15. Thanks, Pete. I think I'll do a collage. This has been an unexpected photography opportunity for me; I wasn't even aware that the Venus/Pleiades conjunction was a cyclical event (8 years). According my StarryNight software, it will, indeed, happen again on 4/03/2028.
  16. I think this will close my Venus & Pleiades series of photos. Tonight was mostly clear with periods of high clouds and bright moonlight. What a cool experience! Cheers! Reggie
  17. Thanks, Pete. The high thin cloud made it somewhat of a challenge over the past few nights, lol!
  18. Venus is on the move as it passes The Pleiades. Still some high clouds in the air but I managed to get a few clear shots. The Pleiades has been known as "The Chief's Eyes" to the Polynesians, "The Market" to the Mexica/Aztec, and "The Flock" to the Ancient Egyptians: Clear skies! Reggie
  19. Great shot. Maybe a hint of cloud detail there? Clear skies, Reggie
  20. Brilliant pics! I love the blue of the sky in the first pic. Venus is like a fiery ball. You must have had some pretty clear skies. I had high cloud to deal with most of the evening, but it was still a great apparition Another one in eight years! Cheers! Reggie
  21. Nice pics! It was a beautiful experience despite the high clouds in my area. I've read this happens about every eight years; I look forward to 2028! Clear skies, Reggie
  22. Great photos! Love the close up of Venus! The clouds interfered with my shots of the conjunction, too; my shots looked similar to yours on that. I wish my close-up of Venus looked like that, lol! Cheers! Reggie
