What did the postman bring? V2

Second visit by the postman in a few days, I made good use of some sales in our Swedish store (AstroSweden) to get a goldliner to substitute the terrible 10mm that came with the Mak, as well as a Moon filter (hopefully not too dark - but the ND0.6 was not on sale). I threw in a binocular adapter that I grabbed for a few bucks - I was planning to eventually mount my 10x50 anyway.

Jupiter might be visible from my balcony later tonight, crossing my fingers

This should make seeing in the dark easier and cut down on AA battery consumption. And keep my house warmer because I won't need to run a cable out of the back door!

Apologies for the clouds here in Essex - all my fault. Recently purchased this Skywatcher 200p Dobsonian ( 2nd hand) comes with 6 x BST starguider eyepieces also a  Telrad projection finder scope. Got it all for £315, I hope I've bought well.

Not got it out yet, always cloud and rain the last 2/3 weeks.

Just purchased some upgrades as well, Dolly trolley and a Wixey digital inclinometer, and am in the process of getting the setting circles sorted. And a Zwo 224mc camera - might use that more with my Mak 127.

Clear skies ( I hope)

I can now talk to myself (even more than usual) and then write up my notes later.  It saves going into the warm room to type up notes as things happen and lose some dark adaption.  Then again I lose the chance of a quick warm up.  Hmmmm, have I done the right thing?  😂

FedEx rather than postie with a parcel from the Land of the Rising Sun.

Purchase from More Blue and imported to allow safe mounting of Lazarus my Vixen ED103 who returns slowly from the dead.

280mm More Blue Vixen rail, with all important stop screws!!

Yet more stuff for my new adventure into EAA and AP. A light pad, a USB3.2 cable and a 120MM mini. Just need some clear skies now.

@bosun21 What light pad did you go for?

How well does it work?

Thanks,

Matt

I bought this one from Amazon.

 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BC8MSPJ9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I used it with a white T shirt over the objective and the pad on top of it. It worked well each time I used it with my 102 frac. HTH.

I've been wanting to get a proper case for my Skymax127, but not wanting it so much that I would spend any serious money.

I read this thread with interest, and had a look at the Patrol Base site, which was mentioned there. They had the following case on sale at what seemed to be a very reasonable price:

Now that it's arrived, I'm very impressed with its sturdiness. It actually has wheels and an extending handle.

I now have some cutting of foam to do:

The supplied foam is actually quite soft.  I'll see how it goes, but if it's deforming under the weight of the OTA then I'll get some firmer stuff.

The DPD man brought me this rather nifty observing chair from Rother Valley Optics. Despite initially thinking I might need to order one for each buttock, it is in fact, rather comfortable. I'm approximately 15 stone and it didn't snap when I sat on it, so that is a good start.

So, you initially thought you needed a binochair?

After my 20yr old Neq6 died I was after a decent weight bearing mount. Perhaps I over weighted the Neq6 with triple scopes, lol. All three scopes come to around 18/20kg not including auxiliary equipment so a beefier mount was needed, hence the new Cq350 arriving today. It certainly is beefier, lol. This is for my solar scopes so I've been out of action for a couple of weeks and the Neq6 had intermittent issues leading up to it's demise.

Nice addition.
Hope it brings the scope to a place where you hoped it would be.
👍👍

I take it that's the Baader T2 Zeiss Prism Diagonal, I've just ordered one for my Tak 100 DZ from 365 Astronomy who had it in stock, FLO are currently out of stock, and advised me that they are not expecting fresh stock until around April-June time.
