Deep sky imaging showcase 2020

Recommended Posts

Its that time again! :)

Please use this thread to showcase your best images captured during 2020 (we've all spent a lot of time at home during 2020, so I'm expecting some good stuff). Just one post per member but you can include up to 5 images if you want.

The thread is for all imagers, both novices and advanced.

Please keep details to a minimum - scope and camera possibly along with a few comments if required.

The thread needs to be packed with images so please don't respond to the postings. The previous years showcase thread(s) can be found here:

2020 has been the year my DSO imaging took a very different turn with the arrival of a second-hand Meade SN-6 6" F/5 Schmidt-Newton (with upgraded focuser for just EUR 165). It has opened up a whole new range of targets. I used it exclusively with the (uncooled) ASI183MC I normally use for planetary imaging, and it got me way better images than before.

5 hours of data (not enough) on the Leo Triplet

8 hours and more on M106 (needs a lot more)

Sorry to be a bit slow in attending. 2020 has been interesting to me as I started with a new rig with a RASA 8 and ASI2600MC. I even built a separate obsy for them. Although I have done a bit of imaging with my Esprits and Meade 14" in the other obsies, I dedicate this entry to my RASA images, so wide field things. All from my backyard of my small farm in a rather dark place in Sweden (Bortle 2-3).

A pretty barren year for me with just 5 images to show for it.

My images are rubbish compared to many on this site but I pushed the boat out on this one and collect 16 hours of data as opposed to my normal 2 or so. So here poorly processed as I was still learning about flats and the like, its M33.

192271410_16hoursblueforward.thumb.jpg.21caad95b4e5e093d5fb1fa71f546fa0.jpg

I should try this again as I am a bit better now and I think I still have the data.

Sort of prefer the this rendition of the same data, not so much saturation of the same subject
