Just the job for the EM-2 Dave, looks great. I thought of you when I saw the ad, did you get the shorter legs as well?

Hi Tim,

No, I asked the seller to just sell me the tripod and spreader/tray, as I already had the hub for connecting the mount..so the seller could make a complete short tripod to sell separately.

Takahashi FC-L tall tripod..made from solid mahogany with adjustable legs and "Tak Green" furniture..IMG_20220318_130423238_HDR.thumb.jpg.86e071b8b2984c4de918f6b800562833.jpg

My FS128, "Trinity", which I've now had for 5 years, came to me with this exact tripod: however, I sold it quite soon afterwards as I felt my existing trusty but fixed height old home built tripod built by another amateur over 10 years ago was a bit more rigid..

I always thought Trinity looked her best on the Tak tripod though, and as I'm increasingly tending to sit to observe, I decided to pounce when I saw this one for sale.

I think the adjustments available with the Tak tripod will suit me better - especially when viewing lower altitude objects like M42, Sirius, Scorpio etc..and, of course, the more I lower the tripod, the more stable it will be!

It arrived today, from Scotland, in very nice condition and I'm chuffed with it..I will keep the old tripod for my trusty old Vixen SP102, on which it will be as solid as a rock..😊👍.

Dave

A payday treat all ordered from Flo. May as well take advantage before the fuel bills land on the doormat.  🙄

Pier for the cem26 (more substantial than it looks it will do just fine), more blue plate and some accessories - cable, spacers, parfocal rings and a finder shoe.

A match made in heaven. I use one in my old Genesis and it’s wonderful 👍

Lovely looking setup, Arneb (or Alpha Leporis😊, like the name!).

Just a simple, classic looking top end combination👍.

I can't wait to do some wide-field sweeping of the Milky Way late summer. Just need to book a week or two somewhere with dark, and if the fates smile on me, clear skies. 🤞

Thanks Dave. Due to its classic looks I'm allowed to keep this one out of its case!

TeleGizmos 365 cover and Baader UV-IR filter arrived today courtesy of aunt FLO. I have a WO 120mm (4.7") refractor on a Skywatcher EQ6-R mount which is loaded with too many gadgets and gizmos used for astrophotography. On the advice of FLO, I went for the 5-6" refractor size cover just to ensure I had a bit of extra wiggle room.

As you can see, there's plenty of room to spare under there! This cover is heavy, it's like a thick canvas with a foil inner layer. It's expensive, but it feels quality (and better than the Halford's bike cover I've been using the past week). It'll be much quicker to throw this over the top during a downpour than to move it out of harms way.

For once, something not delivered. I went into one of those funny old shops where they have books neatly arranged on shelves and available for purchase (Blackwells in Oxford).
When I paid for it at the checkout I thought they might place in a cardboard delivery box. But, no, they allowed me to put  it in my bag and walk out of the shop 🤔

How quaint 😊
