What did the postman bring?

Mine too. The only downside I can see is that the dot doesn't 'disappear' into the hole when it's on target: the dot is too big. There doesn't seem to be any adjustment, unless someone knows better?

Nice problem to have, my dot is nowhere near the target ;)

Doesn’t need to disappear, in fact it’s easier if it doesn’t, just centralise it on the hole. My Hotech is the same. Also not sure that cross hairs are of any particular benefit? Maybe they help you see the hole from further away?

Bit of fiddling and you"ll be fine. Doing the secondary first?

The laser packed up pretty much straight away - switch seems poorly made. That’s going back…

Meanwhile got to here with Cheshire & Cap. 3EB1CE9F-E0AA-4847-9329-99BBC2BCEF83.thumb.jpeg.6cdcc63346f46e4d3806e164e1884842.jpeg

That's a pity, not to mention a PITA. I've us d mine to collimate both scopes.

Yes, it's a bit difficult to see from the other end of the scope. A couple of cross-hairs would have been very helpful.

Here's a tip for anyone wanting a cheap scope cover:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B09CZKKG8K?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image

It's a chiminea cover and fits my StellaLyra 8" dob as if it had been made for it! It's very strong, well made and has a drawstring and ventilation pockets, plus some straps for ground stakes. And all for a measly £15 (because it's not an astronomy product!). I wouldn't leave my scope out for extended periods in all weathers, regardless of the kind of cover, but it's great when you want to leave your scope outside for a while - star parties, for example.

And to add to my lunar atlas collection of books, arriving this morning came the 2004 edition of Antonin Rukl’s updated version of the Atlas of the Moon, which was bought off fleabay and is pretty much in pristine condition. Considering what some sites are asking for this book 2nd or third hand I got it for a snip! The only substantial difference from earlier versions of Rukl’s Atlas of the Moon is that the maps are drawn in blue instead of red in earlier versions, which is supposed to make it easier to read with a red light. This was reprinted by Sky and Telescope.

Nice, looks like a bigger, better version of the Moon, Mars and Venus book.

It does indeed look like a bigger version. I have a copy of the Concise Guide of the Constellations too which is a similar size book as your Moon, Mars and Venus book, The Constellations book is illustrated by Ruckl too. Had it since the early 80’s and only just noticed the other day that he was the illustrator for it too.The illustrations that Rukl does of the moon are much better than the constellations charts though by far, although there is some very good information contained in such a small book.

Yes, I got both the Hamlyn Concise guides back in the early 80's and they're still going strong. I've always liked and used Rukls lunar illustrations but now I'm older and my eyesight is not getting any better it may be time to get the larger impression of his work, as in the book you have.

That's nice Gus, not jealous at all.....well just a little bit.
Nice condition, good find.
I keep looking but always baulk at the higher prices.

Yeah, there are some silly prices asked for this on some sites. Put in an offer for this for £30 on fleabay which was accepted by the seller, so chuffed I got it for that price.

Postie Pete's buddy today, only just opened everything later this afternoon as busy with life.

Two Classified purchases to make one TV Bino Pair at 25mm

And a @FLO purchase of a new DeLite at 9mm.
Just a couple more to go when funds allow or Mrs W allows extra spending, which at the present time is unlikely due to 1000’s of reasons.

Do these actually cover the base as well or just the tube? Thanks
