Montana
Hooray for sunshine!!!Last night before I went to bed we had a huge amount of snow, like a winter wonderland (2cm probably). I was really excited this morning and bounced out of bed to nothing! where had it gone? but the Sun was out hooray!I haven't used the PSTs for ages and stupidly went outside to the bottom of the path because it looked sunny, but sadly not. I got a balloon transit (just had the time to press the button) when I was setting up. The disc is off band but hey ho.Balloon by Alexandra Hart, on FlickrToo many trees so I relocated to the winter observatory (upstairs bedroom window). Thing is I just couldn't get the mount to work properly, I had side to side but no up and down, this gave me a lot of fretting because I had sunshine, not now, please work! So I manually exercised it up and down for bit and prayed really hard again and thankfully it worked. It took about 20 minutes though. Steve Ward
You're getting pretty darned good at this ... you really ought to try it more often ... Sorry your snow had disappeared this morning , it's such a disappointment when you peer out expecting a white blanket and all you see is wet greenery ... Montana
Thanks guys definitely very rusty at imaging with the PSTs but I hope I will get better over the next couple of months. It certainly was rather nice to be inside today out of the wind. I have looked longingly at the moon tonight but it is far too cold, who does this night time time stuff, Polar bears?Alexandra
Pete Presland
Cracking set of images, covering both HA & Ca-K wavelengths. It is very cold, but I am still dragging out there at 4am for the planetary show weather permitting
Steve Ward
'Twas a wee bit raw out there last night 'tis true ... That's where it's a distinct advantage being outside in it all day long as opposed to being in shirtsleeves in a warm office , you barely notice the difference out in it at night ... Saves all that heating lark too , this'll be winter seven without any on here ...
