sexysi
Back to the hobby after being away from it for a while. So starting to build up new gear.My previous scope was a Nexstar 6se, which was pretty good, but not that good for taking Deep Sky images. Ok for the planets etc.So the choice of scopes will be one of these 2, which would be the best to get half decent images from my dslr.Skywatcher Explorer 200por Skywatcher Evostar 80ED DS-Pro.On a Motored mount. It will be a EQ5 HDuty mount with the dual axis dc motors.I know that the HEQ5 mount is better but that is a future upgrade.cheers si
Freddie
Hi, welcome to SGL.You may want to check a FOV calculator to see the difference you will get from those two scopes.
knobby
The 80ED will be better on DSO and a lot kinder on the mount ... Good luck Si
laudropb
Hello and a warm welcome to the SGL. I think you might be pushing the mount a bit too far with the 200p, so the 80 ED is probably better.
sexysi
So I see less with the 80ED but get better quality images from it as the resolution is better. Great calculator by the way.si
sexysi
So if i get the smaller 80ed, potentially I can mount a 2nd small scope next to it as a guide scope. Yes the explorer is blumming heavy.cheer

swag72
Hi Si and welcome to SGL - If you get the ED80 and want to keep the weight down for guiding, then you could use a finder guider - A normal finder scope with an adapter from Bern at Modern Astronomy and a QHY5II and that should get you going for guiding.Loo forward to seeing you around

Singlin
Welcome to the Forum,I started with the 200P and EQ5 and as soon as I started Imaging I sold both and purchased the Quattro 10" and EQ6.If you want to keep your mount then the ED 80 is the sensible option. Easy guiding with a finder scope and great images.Regards,Simon
