Me too, Stu.

I believe Mike Bacanin had one too and really liked it, but found it a little awkward to handle due to the size (not the weight, it's quite light, he had back problems).

The price is certainly good for it's aperture if it is a good one..but my FS128 is surgically attached to me now and "ain't goin nowhere"!!😁😂 - hard to believe it's now 3 years since I bought it!..my dream scope 😊...

Stu can I ask you where you got your slow motion control cables from?

Thanks

As per the PM Mick, these are supplied with the Rowan AZ100 Mount, and very nice they are too.

Some rat bag talked Nicos' into not selling it. No idea who that could have been! :icon_scratch:

I would love to. Still trying to work out how to sell a trip to Cyprus to the wife. Dressed up as a holiday could work but clearly not for a good while!

Let’s put it this way - I could DHL the darned thing, but it would cost quite a bit - to the tune of maybe £600 or so. Best to combine with vacation and Cyprus is a favorite among you lot! At some point this will be over and someone can come over and take it - but until then, I will be the custodian of this scope.

Speaking of which, all my refractors have a date this weekend with a bottle of Renaissance wax I have - I like a well polished OTA!

It goes like this:   "Hi love, I've wone a free two week holiday in Cyprus - for one! See you in a fortnight. XXX".

"Hi love, I'm back! You'll never guess what I won in a raffle while in Cyprus!"

Just catching up with this thread after a year or two - so many incredible set ups.
Nothing new here, but thought the virus lockdown was a good enough reason for a gratuitous posting of my Tak FC-100 on solar ha duty, and TV85 doing a bit of goldfinch spotting.

More gratuitous posting of a refractor during lockdown I'm afraid :rolleyes2:

TMB/LZOS 130mm F/9.2 triplet #20 made in 2006 by APM in Germany on the T-Rex Alt-Azimuth mount. Both quite rare items and they make a great match

No excuses needed for posting pics of Taks. Mark 🙂

I've wanted a 90mm refractor for many years, but had no luck with them, having received a new discontinued LOMO triplet with some sort of astigmatism issue, returned; a new discontinued Astro-Tech triplet with loads of dust between the lenses, sold in-person to a willing buyer; and then there was the Tak Sky 90, which had its own lens cell troubles, never bought one.

Ted Ishikawa is the Borg U.S. importer and he sold me my first scope from this mfr, a 76ED f/6.6 pictured elsewhere in this topic, in June 2001. Oasis Studio, the Borg makers, have a 90 f/5.6 Fluorite doublet which, I am told, is not the same as the Sky 90 though both are/were sourced from Canon Optron. I decided to take another chance on this aperture and bought one from Ted 18 years, to the month, after my first purchase from him.

This time I struck gold. Compact and lightweight (a Borg trademark) it is also an optical plum, a pleasure to sit at the eyepiece with.

Closed up it is short, added a Chinese 6x30 finder as I haven't located an adapter allowing the use of a Tak finder stalk on this base:

90mm rings from AliExpress:

Dew shield and focuser extended. I weighed it last summer and seem to remember it was at ~ 7lbs, as pictured with rings, dovetail plate, diagonal & ep:
