favourite astro snack ?

winter is on its way , well it is here in scotland , lol, so what is your favourite stargazing snack . when you head out for a dark site or plan an evening out the back ,what food and drink do you take for sustinance ?? , personally i like a flask of bovril , and a big scone with butter and jam !!

so what keeps us going on those long cold winter nights ??

Two sachets of cup-a-soup in a flask keeps me going.

Tried the beer route but that didn't work out so well.. nor did the scope

or anything else for that matter.

It would be remis not to mention the mighty jaffacake as a staple of the nocturnal observer. Washed down with either Benedictine or that strange mulled wine stuff Pete (adamsp123) gave me at last years SGL.

Depends. If I'm local I just take coffee but for all nighters when far from home i take a burner for bacon sandwiches.

If im at the dark site i take a flask of coffee and a hand full of twix's lol,if im in the garden i settle for a pint of thatchers gold and a packet of pork sratchings.

A stroll around the sites in the morning provides strong evidence that small bottles of Belgian beer are something of a favourite!

I'm strictly a Horlicks man myself, of course...

The missus and I are partial to liquorice when stargazing!

In cold weather, I make up a flask of hot full-sugar Ribena, stick some cycling energy bars in the pockets and have either white or dark chocolate to hand. Caffeine is something I have to avoid for migraine tendencies, but not that good anyway if one is going to be out for a few more hours as the post-coffee crash sucks when one is cold and has yet to pack up.

Of course those with observatories have luxury options

In warmer weather I just nibble on a bar or cough sweet.
