Always tempting to change, too much thinking time when it's cloudy!!

      JB80

That is certainly true, retailers must love cloudy weather :D. It's not so much about change but focus if that makes sense.

It's been a lean spell for me, though I am clinging on to the thought that what we see is truly amazing, when we do finally get to see it! Hope you find a good solution one way or the other.

Hope everything is okay with you :)

I dont think there will be any more scopes, so no 120ED, i am having a hard time finding spaces for the scopes i have got, and have had to put one up for sale

Ay, I agree, Foundaplanet and sorry to hear your frustration, Nightfisher. It's a tricky hobby to maintain every night, but astronomy can be filled with astro-related studies that augment the pleasure when there is the opportunity to head out.

    3. nightfisher

      nightfisher

I will be staying with it, just find it so frustrating that work always seems to get in the way of a clear night, a job change has been on the cards for some time

I agree nightfisher..Shifts are the bane of my life, more often than not clear skies when working

Jules, the 120ED is an excellent scope- for lunar/planetary/star splits and solar (WL/Ha). It also dug M57 out under the bright full moon nicely. The supplied SW diag is also excellent.

I hope you can get one.

    4. nightfisher

      nightfisher

half the problem would be selling my kit and waiting for a 120 at a sensible price

I know it may sound cheesy, I appreciate that it may come across as a little glib, but you hang in there mate, seriously. Keep your achievements and those stargazing plans in mind as you work, and smile to yourself knowing that no matter how much drudgery and boredom you must put up with, your work is a real possession in these changing fortunes of time and economic crisis.

  24. Turning my back on DSO objects, who needs to hunt for silly little clouds, i can find clouds any time of the day or night, sticking to Solar system, but concentrating on Luna

      Fozzie

I do like the term silly little clouds even though that's what I spent 4 hours on last night.. I guess. The good thing with Luna is there are always evolving views bring different views to the same object especially when the terminator is involved, loads of things to see again and again.. I always enjoy my Luna obs.

    4. nightfisher

      nightfisher

Solar system is more dynamic, things like shadow transits, partial illuminated craters, sun spots in white light, the Cassini division and so on

    3. Qualia

If that is so (Tal more on mount than the ED) you could get 2 mounts? One for visual one for imaging.

    4. nightfisher

      nightfisher

I have 3 mounts, yes the tal was used most
