  1. We had a rare evening of excellent seeing from the UK. With Mars at 40 degrees altitude and 22.4" diameter, lots of fine detail was recorded across the disk. Syrtis Major and Hellas region are central in the two images attached here. Peter
  2. Use an IR/UV cut. The ZWO cameras are sensitive well into the IR and this is brought to a different focus compared to the visible spectrum. You will get a sharper image with the IR cut filter. However for the sharpest image use a IR pass even with the colour camera. It only lets the IR through. IR is less affected by the seeing conditions so results in a sharper but B&W image. (well its sort of purple until desaturated) Best regards Peter
  3. Captured some nice detail. well done. Peter
  4. A nice image all the same. Nothing but clouds over here. Peter
  5. Some great detail coming through there. Cloudy in the SE so still waiting to capture Syrtis Major region. Peter
  6. Well done, a couple of good images there. ice colours on the 2nd one. Peter
  7. It maybe small, but lots of detail recorded. well done Peter
  8. Well done. always like an animation/
  9. Hi Darryl Lovely work. I noted you drizzle 3x. Do you find this helps and if so what difference do you notice? Best regards Peter
  10. another great image, well done. Captured the limb clouds very well. Peter
  11. Good work, love the animation - some excellent seeing across 21-22nd Sept. Peter
  12. The seeing Gods were smiling last night and I had my best views of Mars so far this opposition and consequently my best Mars image ever at 42 degrees altitude. Lots of detail visible in the equatorial regions from Sinus Meridiani through Chryse to Aurorae Sinus. The blue mist on the bright limb that I saw on screen early in the session did not really show up after processing for some reason. The next few months should give some great viewing of Mars, looking forward to it, weather permitting. It's been a while since we had a decent planetary view from the UK. Peter
  13. Some good detail captured there Peter
  14. Very nice, the basis of a good final image. Good colour Peter
  15. Nice colour, that blue tinge on the right was real. It's mist as the surface rotates into the Sun. I saw it last night as well. Peter
  16. Nice image, I see some colour fringing so you may see an improvement if you use an ADC. Peter
  17. Hi Geoff Great image, well done. Also interesting discussion re ADC and exposure times. I tend to use around 10mS exposures with the ZWO 224MC colour camera. With a small RO!, I get 140 fps on Mars at f/22 on the C14. Of course you still need the ADC with a colour camera even at 40 degrees. I always collimate on screen so the whole image train is included in the adjustments. Best regards Peter
  18. Great image. Love the subtle blue polar hood and details aroUnd the SPC. Peter
  19. Some reasonable detail visible despite jittery seeing conditions. Oxia Palus to Aurorae Sinus region. Sinus Miridiani on the left. No clouds visible.
  20. Some nice detail visible, seeing was jittery last night so well done. Peter
  21. Lovely images, you have caught the limb blue haze really well. Great processing. Peter
  22. Great results. Seeing was jittery and wasn't as good last night compared to last week. so well done for getting this detail. Peter
