  1. Great capture of the Jovian moons as well as Jupiter. Saturn pretty good but still low down from the UK Peter
  2. Hi Craig, that's a super result, nice contrast and colour in the final versions. Well done, also for getting up early to capture Jupiter. Peter
  3. Excellent, some lovely images. I like the presentation of Saturn. Looking forward to Jupiter and Saturn at a reasonable hour soon. Peter
  4. A quick single frame with a DSLR in C14 prime focus. 1/400 sec ISO800. Peter
  5. Good effort this early in the season. It can only get better, we hope. Peter
  6. Love your new website, a nice improvement over the old one. 👍

Thanks Peter, I actually had no option but to re-do it as I use free Google sites and they decided to change the format Inviting us to convert to the new format but I didn't trust that the layout and photos and text would move neatly (and they didn't) so decided to start a new one from scratch.  Gave me a chance to prune and improve it.

I kept some of the elements that people have said they have found useful like my How to Image with a DSLR page.  Also the video tutorials.

      Thanks for your comments.

  7. Really good for this early in the season from the UK, Well done. Peter
  8. Excellent animation. You have definitely got the bug again. Peter
  9. Nicely recorded Neil, glad you managed a view. Peter
  10. Here are a couple of images from around 09:20 UT in a short <1 min break in the total cloud cover during the eclipse from Sussex UK. ED80 and Nikon DSLR - cropped. Peter
  11. Good effort with a small scope and well done for getting up early! Peter
  12. Practice on the Moon, close up on a few nice craters near the terminator. Get your capture and processing technique. The best work flow is to align and stack the captured video in Autostakkert 2 or 3. Then use Registax to do wavelet sharpening. Then to finish in Photoshop or Gimp. Then get ready for Jupiter and Saturn which will be visible later in the summer. When you have the basic flow working for the planets, then use WinJupos to de-rotate and combine several images - now you are into advanced imaging techniques. Good luck on your jurey. Peter
  13. Some great images there. Nice wide field detail. Peter
  14. Sun very low over Gassendi, just catching the top of the central peak. Looked great visually as well. C14 prime focus ASI120MM IR742. Peter
  15. Hi Neil Excellent image and resolution for a 114 Newt. Best regards Peter
  16. Clavius and surrounding region showing good detail within the crater. C14 prime focus, ASI 120MM and IR 742 filter. Peter
  17. Great set of images. 14th Nov is my favorite with dust filling the Valles Marinas Peter
  18. It's edge rind - Google it. Caused by optical diffraction, hard to get rid of. A major issue imaging small bright planets. Peter
  19. Mars now only 9.6" diameter. Thought I would still have a go, managed to get reasonable detail sowing Sinus Meridiani near centre and Hellas Basin at upper left. No sign of South Polar Cap. Also horrible edge rind on bright LH limb. Peter
  20. It's edge rind, Google it. Quite normal I'm afraid. It's caused by diffraction and always affects the bright high contract limb of small bright planets. You can see it on my image just posted. Peter
  21. Well captured. Such a great sight. Peter
  22. Close up of terminator 20th December
  23. DSLR mosaic of 3 images on a C14 Peter
  24. Just about make out a belt on Jupiter. Single frame shot. DSLR on C14. Peter
