  2. Yes it was and unfortunately a very good site gone to the great t'interweb in the sky ? Steve
  3. ......Brewery James I can't believe no one as asked what you are brewing? Steve
  4. Mine's not too good either. A gigantic Aldi warehouse is being constructed 2 miles away. Don't know hat effect this will have on my imaging exploits. Steve

    Hello

Hi Bryan and a very warm welcome to the Lounge Steve
  7. Thanks Gina, It's still working as well as it did from day one. The phase two stage - Automating the shutter has been more of a head scratcher. Hoping to start this next spring. Watch this space Steve
  8. Like it, anything to ease the work load is good in my book. I'd certainly look at incorporating a garage door motor to open and close the roof, in the future. But, first I would want to be in there observing and imaging. Have you had any time using the Obsy for imaging? Steve
  9. Wow! 3D printing is coming on leaps and bounds. Equipment to print that 10 years ago would have cost 10's of thousands of pounds Steve
  10. You must have shares in tool station / screwfix. I haven't seen that many clamps for a while. What would you call a "gathering of clamps" On a serious note, I've been following this thread since day one and have been willing you tho complete for the New Year. A superb build James and awaiting the "first light" Steve
  11. Dave, I know it's off topic, but what options do you recommend regards the Ooznest Workbee. Steve
  12. Great set-up Giorgio. I would love to move to say an Ubuntu controlled system. could this extend to a twin scope system. driving two ccd cameras, filterwheels, autofocusers and one mount. Steve
  13. Good luck with the CEM120 Ray. Can't wait for your initial test results and, of course, the first light. Steve
  14. Time lapse worked perfectly Miguel Looking forward to the build. You will not regret building it. Steve
  15. Thank you Steve, a most informative read and one I will apply to my future Pixinsight processing procedures. Steve
  16. I have built 3 focusers for my set-up. One in-line & two belt driven, all running in SGPro. The source for my DIY focusers:- https://sourceforge.net/projects/arduinoascomfocuserpro2diy/ All working exceeding well Steve
  17. If you buy the belts from reputable companies like Beltingonline or HPC Gears you can order glass reinforced belts. These will not break, they are industrial quality and withstand thousands of RPM and many hundreds of hours of working life. The biggest danger for timing belts is "not enough tension" This causes the belts to slip, damaging the belt teeth and eventually rendering it useless. Steve
  18. 10mm bolts will ensure the plate goes nowhere. It doesn't need to be level, polar alignment takes care of that and a round pin will be fine for the azimuth peg. I used a 12mm hardened dowel when I set up my old EQ6 pro. Great temporary pier & mount btw Steve
  19. That's great to know Steve, as I'm off cruising around the Caribbean in the New Year. Steve
  20. Didn't realise you had retired Kev. I took the plunge 2 years ago. Never looked back. Steve
  21. Looking good Kev. With a bank holiday to help you progress. Steve
  22. Now that is a work of art, John. Can't wait to see it mounted and, of course, the first light report. Steve
  23. I'm sorry John I disagree with the "experiencing problems of this nature with a new design" As a new product, it should never leave the factory without ALL processes in place albeit material sourcing, manufacture, and logistics. Design, development, process capabilities, and a full quality procedure has to be in place before the product can proceed to manufacture. In a creditable company the finalised project has to signed off by the Technical & Managing Director before the first product can be shipped As a Chartered Engineer for over 30 years it galls me that the customer is now the a non paid member of the Project Test and Quality team. Steve
  24. Just tried it Alan. No issues on any of the three targets I have tried. Steve
