My first astro-camera! looking forward to:

- Peaceful nights for me and neighbours without the clicky noise of my old nikon d3200.

- Exposures longer than 30` 😃

- No more dark frames.

The postman didn't bring it, I brought it from a DPD collection point. 😏

But I think I have to give it back. There is 100% in the picture, while my copy has 31% only... 🤔

Not really what the postman delivered but I collected my 2nd Askar 120 APO from PAS on Saturday and now building a framework to support the pair on my CEM60.

One will be fixed the other will have a small amount of adjustment to get them both on the same FoV..,.

Did you think about a 120mm APO binoscope? 😏

Looks great! I am guessing that is a Vixen dovetail and not a Losmandy?

It is a Losmandy. It fits the Rowan AZ100 very well.

Latest purchase of a Tele-Vue refractor, do they do anything else?

Ranger, came on its own so the Lone Ranger! Lol

A few niggles, marks on the focuser rear edge and a hole that had been re-tapped for a different size screw!

The optics are wonderful! Very nice.

This arrived, just a short while ago, via DPD. He still had several more deliveries, very long day he has had and I do not envy him. Nice fella though.

Counterweight for my Sightron Alt Az mount. Now how far dare I push the mount, now balance should be less of a problem? :icon_scratch:

Edit: From FLO: https://www.firstlightoptics.com/skywatcher-star-adventurer/skywatcher-star-adventurer-counterweight-kit.html

Thanks guys for the usual quick delivery.

Are you finding you are having balance issues with the mount? I have not encountered such issues but have only used a few times over the last couple of months.

No not at all. However two quick sessions with a 72 EDF and a C5 are hardly pushing it. My intentions are to push the mount a bit, just to see what it can do. I wish to make this as easy as possible. Now I just need to find the time...

Postman delivered quite a few packages today! I was looking for a telescope and mount that can fit in a backpack or small luggage. Looks like I have been hit with Takitis...

So happy with my purchase. This is my first Takahashi telescope, and it is a beauty. The craftsmanship is simply amazing, and the first views of distant trees suggest how sharp these lenses are. I followed a seagull in flight, it was a beautiful sight!

I chose this telescope (FC-76DCU) because of its weight (1.9kg !!) and the fact it can be split in half for transport. Very convenient.

Likewise, I was looking for a good mount that doesn't take much space. My AZ-5 is fine but rather big and heavy. So I went for this Sightron Japan Zero mount, which is also very well built. I tried mounting my ST120 and it handled it perfectly, with minimum vibrations.

I love the fact that this mount can be very easily folded down to a small package. And yet, it can take 7kg of payload. It has multiple configurations, the different parts can be placed and oriented in many ways depending on your needs. A very smart design!

The mount itself is very smooth and can be tightened at different levels, so it can be used like a Dobson mount. I also added flexible knobs and a better saddle.

Of course, all of this came with a storm... I guess first light won't come for another week or so! :(

I'm wanting to build an electronic focuser and whilst there are plans available I figure it would be a good idea to actually try and understand electronics and programming (my job now involves both).  Won't be building a focuser with this, but will at least understand it a bit better.  I get stressed doing things without understanding why I'm doing it.

Figure this would be a good place to start.  Figure with the lack of clear skies I can spend an hour or so a night doing the projects.

Sorry to anyone in the Hastings area, my purchase has now ensured there will be no sunny days for a couple of weeks at least!

Maybe I'm getting old, a modern solution surprised me today.

I'm preparing to work outside my garden, somewhere under a darker sky. It would be convenient to have a laptop, even if I'm going to work with an ASIair Plus, so a 12V powered charger was needed.

I was very sceptical while reading that one of the chargers has "a Self-Regulation Voltage" feature and can work with 16 kinds of sockets/voltages/laptops. I risked, as it was affordable. Indeed, the small charger has convenient replaceable high-quality angled tips including a small chip defining the output voltage and exchanging data with the laptop (recently laptops have 3 wires inside an original charger). One of the tips matches my older Dell Precision M4500. ☺️

Nice setup! That's what I had in mind. What kind of back pack are you using?

I was thinking about this one, I've had a few backpacks from Lowepro and they're great: Flipside Backpack 300 AW III, Black - LP37350-PWW | Lowepro Global

This one: https://www.cameracentreuk.com/think-tank-airport-accelerator-camera-backpack

Have a look at Matthew’s review: http://alpha-lyrae.co.uk/2015/05/17/think-tank-photo-airport-essentials-backpack-review/

it’s been all over the world with me

Thanks Jeremy, it seems to be very good indeed. A bit over my budget though, so I settled on the Lowepro instead - which seems very similar in size. I'll pick it up tomorrow!

Moving to the CMOS era. Artesky delivered a Touptek 571 mono for a great price. They also have technical support for their cameras in Italy, so if anything goes wrong (hopefully not 🤞) the camera will be sent for repair in Italy instead of China.

Very excited with this purchase!!
