OMG!... I'm trying to think of the best approach now. I'm guessing you split the crown and flint lens. I would suggest reaching out to a Vixen telescope supplier to see if you can obtain new spacing tabs. I'm trying to make out the image fully. Is that liquid between the lens, if so you will have to split them re clean and leave to fully dry (maybe in an airing cupboard). Shame I don't live closer I'd offer to come and assit!

No it's not liquid it's two clamshell chips I am really hacked off about it. I cleaned them but someone has had them apart two separating tabs are stuck on the other is a bit of tinfoil. The crown tipped to one side as I put it in and jammed I tried going around gently pushing it when those two chips came off and popped out.

The cell was loose when I inspected it so I knew someone had been at it before when I unscrewed it there was loads of metal fillings off the screw thread I had to blow all that out.

I really should have sent it back and left alone but I thought it is a good scope I can clean the glass as I have done it before the glass was really tight going in took me numerous times to get it in.

Heres another wonderful UFF to my collection - an Altair 10mm Ultra Flat.

I've just looked across town through it with my 72ED and reassuringly its as flat as flat gets, right to the edge. Its also very comfortable to use.  All I need now is the 15 and 24 and I'll have a full house. :icon_compress:

Great little eyepiece Mike. I owned the SL version and found it to provide quality views.

So much for not contributing to this thread again in 2024! Have been thinking about a nice pair of binoculars for a while and pulled the trigger as a self gifted birthday present. Looking forward to putting them through their paces….

Already know I will be posting here again soon as I need to buy some adaptors so I can fit nebula filters to the objectives.

They remind me of Cyberman eyes from Patrick Traughton's terrifying Tomb Of The Cybermen. (Terrifying to a six year old at least)!

Very happy to have received a Scopetech STL-80A, 80mm F15 refractor. A telescope I've wanted for a very long time! Ever since FLO imported them. So when one came up for sale here at a good price I couldn't resist.

Can not wait to use this! Will be interesting to find out if it will best the Towa 339 80mm F15 and Vixen P-80L 80mm F15 I used to own.

Nice, sure you will love them. I re bought a used pair a while back as I missed the ones I sold. They do work well with filters; I use one OIII and one UHC and it shows the North America Nebula beautifully. I also bought some screw-in solar filters which are great for a quick peek.

You will like it ,  I have the shorter f12.5  STL80A- L model and it is CA free in my eyes.

The look is so classical.

I saw the sale and was also tempted as I just love the Fraunhofer style of refractor but having the F12.5 and the F11 102ED , I really have no need for it.

The sale price was though a very good price and to me, still a bargain price .

If ever I'm tempted, I have maybe one more scope in me one day and that would be a 125 /130mm refractor.

Thanks Neal,

I have to admit the Stellamira 80ED F11 telescope is on my radar but the ota is quite a bit heavier than the Scopetech, and given my current set up. The Scopetech made more sense.

The 102mm F11 ED, is a scope I think i'd definitely like to own I particularly like the updated version Altair Astro is selling with the blue tube.

I will at some point like to own a 6" refractor.  I have a suitable mount, but that mount is a work in progress.

Still nothing for me , looks like RM have messed up and lost my 12mm SLV that Franklin posted.

Well !!! , Finally after 13 days in the postal system the SLV arrived.

No pic as we all know what a SLV looks like.

As Franklin expressed in a PM , Hooray !!!

I have had this before with RM , stuff that  should take 2 -3 days eventually turning up some 14 or 15 days later .

Sometimes one has to simply hold  their nerve and play the waiting game, I think the longest wait I have had is 20 days.

Hello all. Bit late in an update here. Had this Meade LXD55 8 in SCT since early Feb. Full disclosure. No postman involved as I went and picked it up. No first light as yet. I'm not gonna comment re that subject.

Fancied a 2nd scope as about 15 years back I had a 10 in LX90 ( full fork setup) which I still have fond memories of. Only sold as my house at the time required a full carry up and down a set of stairs of the unit before attachment to the tripod. Gave great views but I know Meade as a brand aren't everyone's cuppa.

Anyhow. Optics look nice and clean. Few cosmetic marks and a ding here and there but hey. Had to have a white one due to OCD so the LX versions were ruled out. Serial number 848490 with a metal Meade serial number plate showing Irvine, California. I'm assuming it's vintage by now 😀 Looks neat on my Rowan alongside the Tak.

Been reading with interest a few threads about owning more than 1 scope. As I have a TAK FS 128 I was more than contented but hey, live a little John, get yourself a second one. Also came with a Meade  1209 microfocuser thrown in.  Winner all round I think once I get to use it.   Thx for reading if you've got this far.

Clear skies - DOHHHHHH !!     John
